Exploiting Dead Cops for Political Gain Ought to be a Crime...

...so says Ruben Navarrett Jr. in my local dead tree paper yesterday morning. My first instinct was to move it right along to the recycling bin where it would do the most good. But since this goes well beyond the Left's typical hypocrisy, I thought it should have a reply. Mr. Navarett states:
It is grotesque that anyone would ever seize on the killing of a police officer for political purposes. Alas, the practice is bipartisan.
"Grotesque" Noted.
On the right, when the alleged assailant is an illegal immigrant, we often see a cheap and shrill attempt to turn the grief of families and communities over a fallen guardian into outrage over illegal immigration and "open borders."
A "cheap and shrill attempt to turn the grief of families and communities... into outrage" Got it.

You see, for me, the concept of dead policemen is personal and painful. It's not just another issue du jour to be played with. Still, mercenary politicians use it as a chew toy. May they choke on it.

May I suggest that Mr. Navarrett either didn't go far enough, didn't think it through or couldn't see past his own biases?

Maybe the outrage should be when people seize on any killing for political purposes? Recently, on the border, two children died because of medical problems related to their long trek across Mexico. How many on the Left immediately made a "cheap and shrill attempt" to turn the grief of families and communities over these children into outrage over Trump's immigration and borders policies, or against ICE and the Border Patrol?

After Sandy Hook, the "ghouls of gun control" seized on the killing of children for political purposes, proposing numerous gun control methods, none of which would have prevented the shootings. Or at Parkland, where laws already on the books, had they been properly enforced, would have taken the shooter off the street, long before the fateful shooting. "Grotesque", as Mr. Navarrett would say.

In Ferguson, Missouri, there were those who seized on the killing by a police officer for political purposes, giving birth to the bogus "Hands up, don't shoot" movement.

The practice is bipartisan, but alas, it seems to primarily find its home on the Left. If Mr. Navarrett wants to criminalize or at best stigmatize the killing of a police officer for political purposes, may I suggest that he expand his horizons to include the deaths of those shot by the police until such time as they can be thoroughly investigated? The deaths of illegal immigrants who tragically may be sick or dying before they ever enter the country is also not "another issue du jour to be played with", not a "chew toy".

Time for Mr. Navarrett to step up and not be choked by his own chew toys of deaths that he approves of politicizing, not just the ones he disapproves.

Now, it's ready for the recycling!

Where Oh Where Has My Context Been Taken?

Chuck "The Schmuck" Schumer never fails to entertain the electorate with his gleefully obtuse mischaracterizations of conservative opinions.  In his latest thigh slapper Schumer  destroys the entire contextual universe in order to accuse President Trump of insulting the great-great grandparents of millions of Americans. President Trump was actually talking about the savages who belong to the Salvadoran criminal organization known as MS-13.

Schumer naturally took the President's words and ran them through the prevaricator vortex.
NBC News icon Andrea Mitchell led the media-Democrat hit job on President Donald Trump over remarks he made about deporting illegal immigrant gang members, calling them “animals” when he was asked about MS-13 at an illegal immigration roundtable at the White House Wednesday. Mitchell and others falsely said Trump called all immigrants ‘animals’, with several equating Trump to Hitler. Well, despite EVEN the left-leaning AP deleting their “animals” tweet, Schumer is doubling down. Of course.
This time, hilariously comparing all of our “great-great-grandparents” to MS-13 gang members. Twitter is not having it.

Schumer quote: "When all of our great-great-grandparents came to America they weren’t “animals,” and these people aren’t either.
I have several layers of immigrant great-great-grandparents; all of whom came to the US shortly after the Civil War.  My maternal great-grandmother's father was a minor French noble. My maternal great-grandfather's father was a crippled Irish shepard boy. My paternal great-great grandparents were both from Hungary.

I did a lot of research on Ancestory.com and although two people on my father's side did time in NYS prisons, *blush* absolutely no one raped, beheaded or dismembered a single soul. No one sold heroin or cocaine. Booze - well yeah - Prohibition and all that - but no drugs!

President Trump was not referring to my great-great-grandparents and only an uniformed idiot would think so.

More here.

Undocumented Democrat Voters

California’s once-unrivalled status as the country’s most educated state has long since disintegrated under wave after wave of low-skilled, low-social Mexican and Central American immigrants. Now, California's K-12 system is an education backwater. The state’s mostly Hispanic school-aged population lacks competitive linguistic and math skills.
California is becoming another Brazil, divided between fabulously wealthy elites hunkered down in their own coastal sanctuaries, and a poor, Third World population. Before the rest of the country ends up in the same situation, the immigration policies that gave rise to the Steinle homicide must change.
The illegal alien lawyers’ lobby agenda is clear: they want to stop all deportations and in so doing eviscerate our sovereignty once and for all. Their ultimate aim is to transform the country culturally and demographically. Sanctuary policies are one of their most powerful weapons in that crusade.
Do we have the will to stop them?
There is a lone activist somewhere in Californication who, in April 2017, secretly erected two signs along the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu reading:  OFFICIAL SANCTUARY CITY─Cheap Nannies and Gardeners Make Malibu Great! (Boyle Heights Not So Much).
California became a "sanctuary state" on January 1, 2018, as a bill that Democrat Gov. Jerry “Moonbeam” Brown signed into law in October officially took effect.  But the measure has drawn a rebuttal from an unidentified source, as signs mocking the law have appeared below the "Welcome to California" signs that greet motorists as they enter from Arizona and Nevada.  The signs read:  OFFICIAL SANCTUARY STATE─Felons, Illegals and MS13 Welcome! Democrats Need The Votes!
Governor Brown made a menacing promise to President Trump in March of last year on NBC’s Meet The Press:  “You don’t want to mess with California.  We do have something called the ninth and tenth amendment.  The federal government just can’t arbitrarily for political reasons punish the State of California, that’s Number One.  Number Two California is America.  We’re 12 percent.  We’re a key part─the export capital going into the Pacific.”
Brown continued, “We’re the innovation capital, high tech, agriculture, 40 to 50-billion-dollar industry. You don’t want to mess with California, because you’re going to mess with the economy, and that could blow up in your face in a gigantic recession and roll the Republicans right out of this town.”

Federal Clown Judges

Activist Federal Judges have been a burr under President Trump's saddle for the past few months. These black-robed clowns have thus far restricted the President's agenda for illegal immigration enforcement, Just recently another Obama sycophant lawyer-campaign bundler-turned-judge has stymied an attempt to freeze federal funds to jurisdictions that violate federal laws.

There is a way to wipe the smirk off these clowns. The American Thinker posts the solution:
Congress can, under their broad authority to govern the inferior courts, strip the federal courts of their jurisdiction over executive action when the president is exercising the statutorily granted power to suspend or modify entry to the United States. Simply put, Congress established the lower courts and can modify (even remove) the jurisdiction of those courts.
This can be done through the same administrative rules and procedures by which court districts are routinely drawn or modified. This means streamlined committee handling and rapid implementation. Indeed, there is precedent for this. The "Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996," signed into law by Monica Lewinsky's old boyfriend, stripped jurisdiction to challenge certain actions of the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) (the forerunner of today's ICE) from federal courts.
It already has been done. Now if Congress would only get up off its ass...

Laughably Stupid WaPo “Journalist” Awarded Prestigious Kim Jong-Un Prize For Contributions To Journalism

The cascading outbreak of hoof and mouth disease continues apace; this time from a ham-fisted fool at The Washington Post.

Daniel W. Drezner and his “hard-working staff” do not like Attorney General Jeff Sessions.  No sir, not one bit.  Their reasons:  he was the first senator to endorse Donald Trump, he dismissed divergent views as “soulless globalism” and he’s bringing back the war on drugs.

Clinging fervently to his reflexive outrage, Drezner merely glanced at a Tweet from Josh Dawsey, a Politico White House reporter, who truncated a line from Sessions’ speech to the US Border Patrol while visiting the US-Mexico border in Nogales, AZ.
The useful idiot jumped to conclusions assuming use of the word “filth” was intended to describe illegal immigrants so he intemperately fired off this Tweet:
Here’s the problem for Drezner.  He skimmed The Wall Street Journal piece containing the Attorney General’s prepared remarks.  Sessions deviated from those remarks saying instead:
“Along this border, transnational gangs like MS-13 and international cartels flood our country with drugs and leave death and violence in their wake. And it is here that criminal aliens and the coyotes and the document-forgers seek to overthrow our system of lawful immigration.”
“Let’s stop here for a moment. When we talk about MS-13 and the cartels, what do we mean? We mean international criminal organizations that turn cities and suburbs into war-zones, that rape and kill innocent citizens and who profit by smuggling poison and other human beings across our borders. Depravity and violence are their calling cards, including brutal machete attacks and beheadings.”
“It is here, on this sliver of land, on this border, where we first take our stand.”
Using the excuse he had to rush off to a meeting with students and colleagues, he did not carefully read the speech and jumped to his own conclusions.  Something he regretted after the Tweet had already gone viral.  He was astoundingly wrong and, to his credit, later apologized.
After TPM’s Josh Marshall tweeted, “Sessions’ speechwriter goes full Stormfront in border speech” and Daily Kos’ Gabe Ortiz tweeted, “’We take our stand against this filth.’ Sessions speech goes full-on white nationalist,” Geraldo Rivera AKA Jerry Rivers appeared on Fox News Outnumbered yesterday repeating the false charge:
"I don't mind the tough talk, because it's deterred people trying the Southern border, and that's a good thing because it's so dangerous for them. To stabilize the border is a good thing. But I'm absolutely deeply hurt and offended by the tone of this language. This attorney general by using words like 'filth' to describe the undocumented immigrants coming across the Southern border, it smacks of a racist tint to me that I find repulsive."
I said all that to say this:  There are some people out there who believe a movie about a tornado full of sharks is true.  Is it any wonder Americans distrust the media?

There are Lies, Damned Lies and Juan Williams

If Mr. Williams' inability to tell the difference between legal and illegal immigrants is caused by a brain tumor, please rush him to the nearest hospital. If he is merely parroting the same Leftist talking points that conflate legal and illegal aliens, then he should be ashamed of himself.

Geraldo Rivera And The Deportation Cannon

The same guy who became a laughingstock during the massively over-hyped opening of Al Capone’s vault, compromised operational information by reporting the position and American troop movements in Iraq on live TV, lied about being on the scene of “friendly fire” in Afghanistan and shoved an Air Force rescue worker aside during Hurricane Katrina so he could be filmed helping lift a woman in a wheelchair to safety is pissed off at the president over the news that DHS has begun preparing for a series of raids that would target for deportation hundreds of families who arrived in hordes to the US.  Among those to be deported include the surge of unaccompanied minors from Central America.

I’m referring, of course, to FOX News contributor Geraldo (Jerry) Rivera.  Rivera tweeted, “POTUS plan to muster authorities to round up & deport even non-criminal undocumented mostly Latino immigrants on Christmas Eve makes me sick.”

Oh Jerry.  By virtue of the fact they are here as undocumented immigrants means they have broken the law.  Secondly, the operations are to begin in early January not Christmas Eve as you purport in your tweet.  And lastly, these are illegals that had already been ordered removed from the United States by an immigration judge.

We don’t really know the true number of illegals who traipsed across our borders.  Some say 5 million.  Others say it could be as many as 11 million.  Obama’s executive action to “shield” them from deportation was blocked by the courts.

Executive Director for The Center for Immigration Studies, Mark Krikorian, admits he is skeptical about “whether the scale would be large enough to deter future illegal immigration from Central America.”  He added, “If you have photogenic raids on a few dozen illegal families and that’s the end of it, it’s just for show.  It’s just a [public relations] thing, enforcement theater.”

Rivera, who will go on an irrational rant at the drop of a hat, will no doubt explode when FOX airs its new animated sitcom “Bordertown” which is set to debut on Sunday, January 3, 2016.  In the official trailer, a device called the “deportation cannon” is ordered to be lit flinging illegals back across the border from whence they came.

Mean Tweets: Ted Cruz Edition

Like many of you out there I have not settled on the presidential candidate for whom I would cast my vote in the general election next November.

I noticed during Tuesday’s debate from Las Vegas that as Ayla Brown sang the national anthem, Ted Cruz placed in his hand inside his suit jacket  That image reminded me of the famous portrait by Jacques-Louis David of Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte with his hand inside his waistcoat.  Does Mr. Cruz do this often?  I don’t know but I found that to be an odd display.

Rubio has been radioactive to Republicans because of his participation in the Gang of Eight movement to allow amnesty for illegal aliens. Beneath the surface is a simmering battle between Rubio and Cruz on the matter of immigration.

With Cruz coming into his own in Iowa, Rubio is desperate to knock him off his game.  Having ducked the question for nearly two years about what a President Cruz would do with the millions of illegals who remain in the U.S., Rubio demanded a straight answer from Cruz.

"I have never supported legalization, and I do not intend to support legalization," the Texas senator said, but he was more than willing to leave reporters with the impression that he was comfortable with legalizing illegal aliens.

No Ramadan For You

This is what I imagine Coulter’s testimony before the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs would look like
Donald Trump has stated he thought Oprah Winfrey would be a “great” running mate.  He’s also intimated that he’d love to include Sarah Palin in his cabinet if he is elected president.

Now we learn that author Ann Coulter would like to be the head of The Donald’s Department of Homeland Security.  Coulter believes she would run a much tighter ship than the current DHS chief.

Speaking at the Eagle Forum’s Collegian Summit in DC, Coulter said “slightly joking”, that she "could get it all done before breakfast” adding she “could kind of guess who the criminals are going to be at least 50 percent of the time.”

She said she would bring America back to the good old days, when immigration was more tightly controlled.

“There was no pussyfooting around,” she said. “We’re assimilating you, you’re here, and you’re going to be an American. There will be no celebration of Cinco de Mayo, there will be no Ramadan, in fact there won’t even be a Feast of the Immaculate Conceptionwe are an Anglo-Protestant country, and you will learn about the Battle of Valley Forge.”

The World’s Most Dangerous Community Organizer Gets “School House” Rocked

Once upon a time Saturday Night Live was something I made a point of watching every Saturday night.  That was when the comedy skits were actually funny.

The political slant of the show became as noticeable as a piece of spinach stuck between someone’s teeth.  Do you embarrass the person by telling them they have a snack for later or do you ignore it?

I opted for the easier path of ignoring it.  Lately however, SNL has gotten noticed for its occasional scathing criticism of The World’s Most Dangerous Community Organizer.  Last night their Cold Open was pretty amusing with its take on the executive action taken on immigration.  They cleverly used an updated version of the 1975 Schoolhouse Rock! Segment, “I’m Just A Bill”

The Left emerged butthurt and the SNL parody was fact-checked by The Washington Post, a paper which is, itself a parody.  The newspaper even took the time to extrapolate their absurdity by providing a flowchart showing who is eligible for the immigration reprieve.

I only have one bone to pick with SNL.  They failed to point out the imperialness of The World’s Most Dangerous Community Organizer and those who will benefit the most from not being deported.  I took care of that.  You’re welcome.

DELETE! DELETE! DELETE!

Last night was the big night when Cankles Clinton was supposed to “hug it out” with The World’s Most Dangerous Community Organizer following her well-publicized criticism of his “Don’t do stupid shit” foreign policy.

Little Chucky Todd, the new host of Meet The Press, summarized the meeting this way:
“After speculation about their foreign policy disagreements dominated the political news cycle this week, Obama and Hillary Clinton both did their best to project that they had a grand time paling around last night. At a soiree for Vernon Jordan’s wife, the Obamas “danced nearly every song” and “were happy to have the chance to spend time with Secretary Clinton and former President Clinton,” a spokesman said. The awkward personal dance between Obama and Clinton this week had already come across as strained. But the optics of the White House laying out the “surf and turf and pasta” menu at a tony Martha’s Vineyard party—at the same moment that news organizations livestreamed the violence in Ferguson—made it seem even sillier.”
Courtiers and White House Palace Guards Press poodles were not allowed into the private dinner celebration at the Farm Neck Golf Club, but White House spokesman Eric Schultz said afterward, “The Obamas danced nearly every song. A good time was had by all.”

A photo of TWMDCO partying the night away was posted to Instagram by fellow party-goer Elizabeth Cecil. The photo was quickly deleted this morning after it went viral creating a shitstorm of criticism.

Thanks to Elliott Schwartz of the RNC War Room, we all have access to the photo the regime tried to make disappear from the Intertoobs.

It takes little, if any, imagination to deduce that our semi-retired president doesn’t want the world to witness his ceaseless golf outings and his high-toned dance parties while Christians are slaughtered in indescribably cruel ways by savages, he swaps Bowe Bergdahl for five Taliban terrorists, detention centers along our southern borders remain filled with disease-riddled illegals, an American pastor is slowly dying in an Iranian prison, a Marine is unjustly held in a Mexican prison, a crescendo of revolution is building in Ferguson and his administration drags scandals behind it until they die of old age.

He doesn’t even pretend to care about any of this.  He’s shithouse rat crazy.

Why Wasn’t He Deported? A Mother’s Furious Letter To The President

Mary Ann Mendoza, mother of an off-duty police officer who was killed by a wrong-way illegal immigrant driver, has written a furious letter to President Obama demanding to know why the man was not deported after being convicted of a crime.

Her son, Sgt. Brandon Mendoza, had been driving home from work on May 12 when Raul Silva-Corona smashed into him after driving the wrong way along freeways for 35 miles.

Police received 33 911 calls as he sped along the Loop 101 Freeway, down State Route 51 and eventually to the I-10/US 60 interchange before hitting Mendoza on a freeway ramp.  Silva-Corona’s blood alcohol content was 0.24 percent on the night of the crash.

Mendoza, a beloved 13-year veteran of the Mesa Police force, was taken to an area hospital in critical condition and later died.

Via The Arizona Republic is her impassioned letter verbatim:
President Obama,
I am writing this letter to you regarding illegal immigrants.
As a tax paying, law abiding citizen of the United States, I WANT my voice heard on this issue. My son, Sergeant Brandon Mendoza, an officer who was with the City of Mesa, Arizona police department, was killed in a tragic head on collision on May 12, 2014 by a wrong way driver on our freeways. This man happened to be an illegal immigrant, was in this country illegally, convicted of previous crimes, no Social Security number, no valid driver's license BUT he had purchased a vehicle and registered it to drive in Maricopa County Arizona.
I had my son's life STOLEN from me by a man who didn't value his life, was 3X the legal limit drunk, was high on Meth, drove for over 35 miles THE WRONG WAY on 4 different freeways and had NO BUSINESS BEING IN THIS COUNTRY!!!
The Federal Government knew he, Raul Silva Corona, was an illegal immigrant when he was convicted on crimes in 1994 in Colorado.  The prosecutors were "lenient" on him and several charges were dismissed.  When he was convicted of these crimes and 1994 and the government knew he was in the country illegally, why wasn't he deported? Why are any of these illegal criminals in this country??
I am furious that the Federal Government allowed this criminal to stay in this country and KILL my son!  I have attached several articles for you to PERSONALLY read about my son. He was an Icon with the City of Mesa Police Department. He was instrumental in making life better for people of all walks of life in the park project he took on.  He was humble, selfless, worked many hours off the clock helping disadvantaged children and often used his own money to do things for the community, including "adopting" children at Christmas to provide them with gifts…out of his own money!!
I have attached numerous articles for you to read about my son. This was not a life that should have been taken so early. The good he was doing in our community is remarkable, the difference he made in people's lives is amazing and the comfort he brought people in friendship was unmeasurable.
All you have to do is Google “Sgt/Officer Brandon Mendoza" and you will have plenty of reading material about my wonderful son who had just passed his Sergeant's exam to become a Sgt. The Chief of Police posthumously promoted him during the week of his funeral but that highlight of his life was stolen from him!!!  He was officer of the year last year. Officer of the quarter for the first quarter of 2014. He was only 32 years old and had done more in his life than most of us have done in a lifetime!
I am going to have my voice heard and I want to you to know what my personal feeling is on whether CRIMINAL ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS should be allowed in this country.  I have been DIRECTLY affected by this.  I am sure if your life had been affected like mine has been, you would have a different view of this situation. I have lived in Arizona most of my life. My son, Brandon Mendoza, was half Hispanic.  It's not the color of skin that my son or I see, it's the person and how they conduct their lives.  If you can't enter this country legally then you shouldn't be here.  If you commit crimes, you should pay the time any of us as US Citizens would have to serve.  Letting these illegal criminals out of our jails before their time is served and turning them loose on the streets to commit further crimes and KILL our loved ones is NOT ACCEPTABLE TO ME!!  AND it shouldn't be acceptable to any US Citizen.  Mr. President, you don't have the right to make this decision yourself…I have a say, even if it is for one moment.  Maybe that one moment will light a spark with another citizen who can then light a candle, who can then light a bonfire, who can then light a city up and so on.  My light has just been lit and I am not going to back down when so many of these illegal immigrants have more rights than we do.  My son's death will not be ignored as another statistic.
I want laws to change that would not allow illegal immigrants to purchase vehicles in our country and register them to drive them in our states WITHOUT having driver's licenses to drive them legally.  How is this happening???  I want laws changed that will force the removal of illegal immigrants who break our laws.  This man, this repeated law breaker, was allowed to be released and he continued breaking the laws in our country until what????  UNTIL HE WAS STOPPED BY MY SON IN A HEAD ON COLLISION THAT NEVER SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED!!!!  HE KILLED AN OFFICER OF THE LAW AS HIS LAST ACT!!!  When are you going to see the flip side to this issue?  When will you realize the hurt and pain and destruction these illegal immigrants who break the law will continue to cause????  Until you live in a state that deals with this on a daily basis, you will not understand it.
I want answers that make sense.  I want answers from you personally as to why this criminal was allowed to stay in our country until he took my son's life.
Sincerely,
Mary Ann Mendoza

Et Tu, Marco?

It is said that there is nothing like wounded affection for giving poignancy to anger.

Waaaaay back in May of 2009, four days after the National Republican Senatorial Committee betrayed its mission, betrayed Republican voters, and betrayed the Reagan legacy; I, along with eleven other bloggers, came together to co-blog at a site known as Not One Red Cent.

Back then I was the proprietor of a blog called No Sheeples Here.  That site was taken down in June of 2011.  I felt that my effort to get the message out for conservatism was falling on deaf ears.  I had poured so much of myself into politics that I was burned out.

Before I had reached the end of my rope though, I penned a blog post at Not One Red Cent that I thought was pretty powerful.

Our posts at Not One Red Cent gained the notice of Professor William A. Jacobson following the 2010 mid-term elections.  Writing at Legal Insurrection, Professor Jacobson wrote, “In those first few months they blogged like crazy, and they were voices in the wilderness.”

“Over time Marco Rubio began to pick up recognition and support and went mainstream, and NORC posts dropped off as others picked up the cudgel elsewhere. The rest, as they say, is history.”

“When that history is written, I hope people will recognize the impact a few bloggers had in the revolution of 2010.”

The mistake was mine for trusting Rubio.

On Thursday, June 28, 2013 the Senate voted to pass an immigration reform bill that most true conservatives believe gives amnesty to illegal immigrants.  The following day, The Insufferable Airhorn called Marco Rubio (R-FL) to congratulate him on passage of the bill in the Senate.  Rubio didn’t answer the call.

The day before, when the bill passed 68-32, there was an impromptu press conference and Rubio wasn’t there.  He avoided it like the plague.

Why didn’t he show his face at the press conference?  Why didn’t he take the phone call?  It’s obvious to this observer that the candidate who was adamant three years ago that an earned path to citizenship was “code for amnesty” was afraid that his slip in the polls would fall even farther.

His evolution flip-flop has caused his public support to take hits.  In fact, his favorability has dropped 15 points since February 2013, according the latest Rasmussen polling data.

If the bill is enacted it would flood our borders with 10 million more immigrants by 2023 and 16 million more between 2023 and 2033. It would also provide a permanent welcome for 8 million illegal immigrants who are already in the country. Most infuriating of all is those immigrants are expected to be low-skill workers and Democrat-friendly.  And if that doesn’t set your hair on fire, they would pay less in taxes than they would receive in benefits.

The bill would also reduce the nation’s average wages and education, increase unemployment and shift more of the nation’s earnings away from wages and into investments, according to a June 16 report by the Congressional Budget Office.

Is it any wonder then, that Sarah Palin jabbed Rubio with a tweet saying, “Hope it was worth the 30 pieces of silver.

“He was deceitful. Not to beat a long-dead horse, but this guy—and Ayotte, and Dean Heller, and even McCain—all lied to greater or lesser degrees about this subject to get elected by posing as stalwart border hawks.”
“One of the most dispiriting moments I’ve had in this process came this morning on Twitter when some righties argued to me that I’m overreacting to Rubio’s lies because all politicians lie. It’s part of their job description. If that’s the new standard—lie your ass off to get elected because we expect you to—then there’s no reason to prefer any one Republican candidate to another on actual policy grounds. They’re all liars, so let’s just elect the guy with the best retail skills and hope he doesn’t screw us too much once in office. (That’s basically Rubio’s 2016 campaign slogan.) Two problems with that logic, though.”
“One: Immigration isn’t just any issue. Rubio didn’t lie about whether he’d support a farm bill or a tweak to student-loan interest rates, only to renege. Immigration was a core part of his appeal to conservatives. He ran as an eloquent spokesman for border security despite left/media identity-politics expectations that any Latino politician must ultimately support comprehensive immigration reform. And now he supports comprehensive immigration reform. It’d be like someone running as a staunch hawk and then, once in office, deciding that Ron Paul had some really good ideas about foreign policy. Should hawks let that guy slide because ‘all politicians lie’?”
“Two: Rubio wasn’t elected as just any Republican pol. He was a self-described ‘movement conservative’ who caught the tea-party wave against the Republican establishment and surfed it all the way to the Senate. Three years later, despite lots of red-meat conservative rhetoric over that time, the two policy pushes with which he’s most identified, I think, are this sham immigration reform bill and international interventionism in various forms, including in Syria. He has, in other words, become a sort of successor to McCain in the Senate. Has anyone who ran on an anti-establishment tide ever embraced the establishment as quickly as that? Even now, even after everything, I strongly prefer his flip-flopping to the grotesque omnibus opportunism of Charlie Crist. But it’s worth asking: How different would the Senate have looked since 2010 with Crist in there instead of Rubio? What would have changed in terms of actual policy? If anything, without Rubio to woo conservatives, the Senate immigration effort would have been in deeper trouble than it is now. The fact that we have to pause and even consider this sort of ‘what if Crist won?’ hypothetical makes me think maybe we should hold off on the Rubio tributes. For now.”
In life, it’s the coward who abandons himself first.  Following that, all other betrayals become easier.  I’m grieved to find that Rubio lied to us and saddened that now we can no longer believe him.  I don’t want him in the White House in 2016 or ever.

Jan Brewer: “We Are On Our Own, Apparently”

Within hours of the Supreme Court’s ruling on Arizona’s immigration law, the errand boy sent by grocery clerks used the bully pulpit to put more citizens at risk.

He issued a directive telling Janet Napolitano’s Department of Homeland Security to refuse many of the calls it will receive from Arizona Police reporting undocumented Democrat voters illegal immigrants.

KPHO Phoenix has the transcript of the statement issued by Napolitano today:

"I am pleased that the U.S. Supreme Court confirmed that state laws cannot dictate the federal government's immigration enforcement policies or priorities.”
“DHS remains focused on enhancing public safety and the integrity of our border by prioritizing enforcement resources on those who are in the country unlawfully and committing crimes, those who have repeatedly violated our immigration laws, and those who recently crossed our borders illegally.”
“The Court's decision not to strike down Section Two at this time will make DHS's work more challenging. Accordingly, DHS will implement operational enhancements to its programs in Arizona to ensure that the agency can remain focused on its priorities.”
“Over the past three and half years, this Administration has dedicated unprecedented resources to secure the border and to enforcing our nation's immigration laws in a firm and reasonable fashion. We continue to urge Congress to pass comprehensive reform because nothing short of a comprehensive solution will resolve the current patchwork of immigration laws.”
“Finally, it is important to note that today's Supreme Court decision will not impact the memorandum I issued on June 15 related to prosecutorial discretion eligibility for productive members of society who were brought to the United States as children."
Dave Gibson, freelancing at Examiner on immigration reform takes Big Sis to the woodshed  by pointing out:

“In her time as head of DHS, Napolitano has refused much-needed funds for her department, leveled unfounded accusations at veterans and conservatives by labeling them as potential terrorists, stopped worksite enforcement, refused Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s desperate request for troops along his state’s border and continuously lobbied for amnesty for this country’s enormous illegal alien population.”
“It is hard to imagine why the Secretary of Homeland Security, who is charged with defending this nation, would end a program which very effectively and efficiently removes huge numbers of illegal aliens from this country. That is unless Madame Secretary has another agenda…An agenda which directly conflicts with the interests of the American people.”
With the stench of betrayal hanging heavy in the air, Arizona Governor Jan Brewer issued this statement:

“As though we needed any more evidence, President Obama has demonstrated anew his utter disregard for the safety and security of the Arizona people. Within the last two hours, I have been notified the Obama administration has revoked the 287(g) agreement under the authority of which Arizona law enforcement officers have partnered with the federal government in the enforcement of immigration law.”
“Of course, it is no coincidence that this announcement comes immediately on the heels of the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling upholding the constitutionality of the heart of Arizona’s anti-illegal immigration law: SB 1070. It’s worth noting that 68 law enforcement entities in 24 states have functioning 287(g) agreements with the federal government. But it appears the only agreements eliminated today were those in Arizona, the state that happens to be on the front lines of America’s fight against illegal immigration. We are on our own, apparently.”
“I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised. The Obama administration has fought the people of Arizona at every turn—downplaying the threat that a porous border poses to our citizens, filing suit in order to block our State from protecting itself, unilaterally granting immunity to tens of thousands of illegal aliens living in our midst, and now this. Still, the disarmament of Arizona’s 287(g) agreements is a new low, even for this administration.”
“Since 2006, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security credits the 287(g) program with identifying nearly 300,000 potentially-removable aliens nationwide. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has trained and certified more than 1,500 state and local officers to assist in the enforcement of immigration law, including many in Arizona. In fact, even as the President was wiping out Arizona’s 287(g) agreements, the ICE website itself continued to herald the collaborative approach of the 287(g) program, noting, ‘Terrorism and criminal activity are most effectively combated through  a multi-agency/multi-authority approach that encompasses federal, state and local resources, skills and expertise.’"
“The President’s action should be of concern to all Americans. This fight is not over. President Obama may disregard Congress. He may target individual states like Arizona. He may generally act with impunity. But he is not above judgment—and the American people will have theirs very soon.” [Emphasis mine.]
Final point, Associate Justice Antonin Scalia’s bench statement on today’s ruling is powerful.

“The President has said that the new program is “the right thing to do” in light of Congress’s failure to pass the Administration’s proposed revision of the immigration laws. Perhaps it is, though Arizona may not think so. But to say, as the Court does, that Arizona contradicts federal law by enforcing applications of federal immigration law that the President declines to enforce boggles the mind.”
He's a shameless scofflaw.
