Opening Pandora’s Box

Every movie reveals something about the culture that spawned it.

Angelo M. Codevilla who is a Senior Fellow of the Claremont Institute and Professor Emeritus of International Relations at Boston University believes political violence is tacitly condoned and often openly encouraged by Democratic officeholders.

Codevilla notes, “In the 21st Century’s second decade, explicit statements by the party’s principal figures—President Obama, Hillary Clinton, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, to name only a few—have led their epigones in power as well as millions of followers to think and act as if conservatives were simply on a lower level of humanity and should have their faces rubbed in their own inferiority.”

“…We know that the spiral of political violence has already taken its first fateful turns and that the logic of our partisan ruling class is pushing for more,” he continued.

"Did anyone see what our ratfucker-in-chief just did?" one character asks early in the screenplay for The Hunt, a Universal Pictures thriller set to open Sept. 27. Another responds: "At least The Hunt's coming up. Nothing better than going out to the Manor and slaughtering a dozen deplorables."

According to a published report by the Hollywood Reporter, Universal Studios employees in different departments were questioning the wisdom of making such a movie in these times.  One filmmaker with ties to Universal asked, “In light of the horrific [recent shootings] is this not the most craven, irresponsible, dangerous exploitation?”

A day after the Hollywood Reporter reported the studio was reevaluating its strategy for the film, and that ESPN had already pulled an ad, Universal took additional action. "Out of sensitivity to the attention on the country’s recent shooting tragedies, Universal Pictures and the filmmakers of The Hunt have temporarily paused its marketing campaign and are reviewing materials as we move forward," a spokesperson said.

The act of rubbing our noses in our inferiority began when the owner of a Lexington, VA Red Hen restaurant refused to serve White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders and her family and asked her to leave.

In June of last year, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) told a crowd in California, “If you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere.”

Last month, conservative journalist Andy Ngo was beaten by the violent political activist group Antifa in Portland, OR.  Along with cuts and bruises, Ngo suffered brain trauma for which he was hospitalized overnight.

Democrats and their dysfunctional media minions, in the wake of the Dayton and El Paso shootings are now unabashedly calling President Trump a white supremacist.  Calling him a Russian asset during their fever dream of collusion ended when former Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s testimony proved to be an exercise in futility.

Where would these degenerates get such an idea?  Answer:  Frank Figliuzzi, former Assistant Director for Counterintelligence at the FBI during the Obama Administration and national security analyst for MSNBC floated a crank suspicion that President Trump’s order to fly the nation’s flags at half-staff through yesterday, August 8, to commemorate the victims of this past weekend’s mass shootings was a coded salute to Adolf Hitler.

In some twisted secret fantasy to undo the outcome of the 2016 presidential election, the left appears to condone the spiraling political violence and, so it would appear, is pushing for more.

Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-TX) tweeted the names and employers of 44 San Antonio residents who donated to President Trump’s reelection campaign.  In doing so, Castro targeted American citizens for exercising their First Amendment rights.  He has refused to disavow his actions.

When I can’t wear a red baseball cap with the logo of Folds of Honor emblazoned across the front without being challenged while at the grocery store or the gas station, the hate the left has for “deplorables” is a sure sign that something wicked this way comes.

The “Death To America” Crowd

Tensions have risen in the Persian Gulf when the Trump Administration revoked waivers on the importation of Iranian oil.  Since May, the Islamic Republic of Iran has attacked numerous oil tankers near the Strait of Hormuz and shot down an American spy drone over international air space.

The drone shoot-down was only the latest flare-up in the region tied to Iran.

President Trump was prepared to retaliate against the rogue nation but ordered a stand down after it was determined the action would have been disproportionate.  That action would have killed upwards of 150 people on the ground.  The drone was unmanned.  The stand down order was widely criticized on both sides of the aisle.

Those critics, of course, did not have at their disposal the intelligence reports provided by the Pentagon to the President.  It turns out retaliatory cyber attacks were carried out against Iran even as he called off the airstrikes.

Rep. Maxine “Dumbass” Waters (D-CA) pumped out a series of tweets accusing the President of wanting to go to war with Iran claiming the downed U.S. drone was flying in Iran’s airspace.
National Security Advisor John Bolton has repeatedly insisted Washington had “held the door open to real negotiations” and that “in response, Iran's silence has been deafening.”

On Monday the President signed an executive order with new hard-hitting sanctions on Iran directly targeted at Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei after what he called a “series of aggressive behaviors” by the regime.

He said the Ayatollah's own finances would now be in U.S. crosshairs. “I'll be signing an Executive Order imposing hard-hitting sanctions on the Supreme Leader of Iran, on the Office of the Supreme Leader of Iran and many others.”

Iran's President Hassan Rouhani declared the new sanctions are “outrageous and idiotic” and will fail because Ayatollah Khamenei, one of the main targets, has no foreign assets.

According to a published report from Bloomberg, Khamenei “has possession valued at an estimated $200 billion.”  He’s backed by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

The U.S. Treasury Department said on Monday the new sanctions will include eight officials of the IRGC who “supervised malicious regional activities” including its ballistic missile program and “harassment and sabotage” of commercial ships in international waters.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi warned, “The fruitless sanctions on Iran’s leadership and the chief of Iranian diplomacy mean the permanent closure of the road of diplomacy.”
Last week’s tanker and drone attacks were the desperate actions of a government trying to provoke an American response.

Iran is home to the world’s fourth-largest proven reserve of crude oil and holds the world’s second-largest proven reserve of natural gas, after Russia.

Under President Trump’s maximum-pressure campaign, the U.S. has cut off Iran’s ability to sell crude on the global market and threatened to sanction any nation that purchases it. Oil covers a third of the $80 billion a year the government spends in Iran, meaning that a fall in oil revenues cuts into its social welfare programs, as well as its military expenditures.

Good. Keep them hemmed in. Four more years of President Trump could almost certainly mean less than four more years for the mullahs of the Islamic Republic.

We The Sheeple

Socialists Democrats hope to return to power for the first time since the early Obama years.

The party of ludicrous obstruction is facing a brutal 2018 map in which 10 Senate Democrats are up for reelection in states President Trump won.  Their base is clamoring to remove him from office before 2020.

The party has, of late, being eating their own.  Nancy Palsi tweeted about “striving to Make America Beautiful Again”.  Mad Maxine Waters called for her supporters to harass Trump Administration officials saying, “God is on our side.  If you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere.”

They’ve hitched their wagon to some barmaid from the Bronx who is economically ignorant and ignited a controversy when she said America wasn’t founded on capitalism and called Israel an “occupation” force in the Palestinian territories.

Meanwhile, Republicans are poised to gain a decades-long hyper-conservative majority on the Supreme Court with Trump's nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, and all the Democratic leadership can do is wring their hands and shout about Roe v. Wade, health care and immigration without a clear, unified message about how to win back the House and Senate in 2018.

The unimaginative leaders of the Democrat Party─Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi and DNC Chairman Tom Perez─have feigned playing nice talking about the virtues of civility while Republicans have been accusing Democrats of backing Communism and supporting the savage gang members of MS-13.

Marc Thiessen wrote in a Washington Post Op-Ed, “MS-13 is a demonic death cult. And President Trump has Nancy Pelosi defending its members’ humanity.”

“Through their dishonesty, Democrats such as Pelosi have handed the President a winning issue. A Harvard/Harris poll finds that 56 percent of Americans agree with Trump that it is fair to call MS-13 “animals” (including 47 percent of Hispanics, and 41 percent of Democrats). Millions of Americans can’t understand why Democrats seem more hostile toward Trump than a vicious gang that carries out savage killings.”

Last Thursday House Democrats introduced legislation that would abolish U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), prompting Senate Republicans to respond with a resolution of their own.

Just yesterday the House of Representatives voted for a resolution that supports ICE and explicitly condemns Democrats’ calls to abolish the agency. The final vote was 244-35-133. The majority of House Democrats (133) voted “present” in protest of the resolution.  The resolution said calls to abolish ICE “are an insult to the heroic law enforcement officers who make sacrifices every day to secure our borders, enforce our laws and protect our safety and security and allow dangerous criminals to remain in the U.S.”

Democrats called the resolution a political stunt.  It wasn’t a stunt.  It broke the back of the Democrat Party by getting them on record for voting against supporting the agency and its vital work in securing the border.

The complete list of Democrats who voted against the measure can be found here.

In a private meeting yesterday, Democrats decided just pointing fingers at President Trump and yelling “In Peach Foty Fie” ain’t cuttin’ the mustard.

What did they come up with?

Chair of the Democratic Policy and Communications Committee, Cheri Bustos (D-IL) announced they will use the new slogan “For the People” in the 2018 midterm elections.

Bustos, who supports the DREAM Act said, “We have 110 days from right now until Election Day and we will be spending the month of August in our home districts and we wanted to make sure we are singing from the same song sheet on the three top issues.”

The new slogan will accompany a focus on three key areas, according to Bustos: health care; infrastructure spending; and Republican corruption in Washington.

“Those are three promises that this president made to the American people that he has not kept. Sometimes you have to clearly and simply point out how we’re different,” she said. “With discipline and not being distracted by the outrage of the day, that’s how people can start hearing us.”

“I don’t think any of us are claiming this is poetic or this is the end-all-be-all of messaging,” she emphasized. “It’s just a way, in a quick way, to put together the answer to what we stand for.”

Oh honey.

If the Democrats win back the Senate, Mark Warner (D-VA) would take over the Senate Intelligence Committee and would devote its work to a renewed investigation of President Trump’s alleged Russia ties.

On the other hand, if the party cannot win back Congress in 2018, the 2020 Presidential Election will be a moot point.  The message for all of us “deplorables” is simply this:  Don’t get complacent.  Campaign against the Democrats up for re-election.  Talk up their challenger, but of paramount importance─get to the polls and vote.

Old Bat Who Hollers “Impeach 45, Impeach 45” Melts Down

Maxine Waters, the top Democrat on the Financial Services Committee, consistently advocates government direction of and support for industry. In 2008 she threatened to nationalize the U.S. oil industry. She told oil executives that if gasoline prices went higher she would "be about basically taking over and the government running all of your companies."
She consistently votes for state-industry entanglement—subsidies and regulation. She supported the Wall Street bailout. She supported the mortgage bailout in mid-2008. She supported the auto bailout. She led the fight in 2012 to extend a bank-bailout program called "Transaction Account Guarantee."
In Maxine Waters’ economy, big business rows the boat while government steers.
So, of course she supports the Export-Import Bank, which uses taxpayer money to backstop Wall Street loans to foreign buyers buying Boeing jets and other U.S. goods. It’s another way for government to get business to do what politicians want—in this case, sell goods overseas.
Waters has a murky history of blending private profit and public power. During the late-2008 financial crisis, she set up a meeting to discuss securing bailout funds for "minority-owned banks." The only bank discussed was OneUnited, where her husband was formerly a board member and in which he still owned stock. OneUnited later got $12 million in bailout funds.
An ethics investigation never found clear evidence that Waters violated House rules, but it did reprimand her chief of staff Mikael Moore, who was also her grandson, for not steering clear of the conflict of interests.
Last month, Sen. Jerry Moran (R-KS), with the support of Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA), introduced legislation to overturn the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s 2013 “Indirection Auto Lending and Compliance with the Equal Credit Opportunity Act” Bulletin.
The House of Representatives passed a Senate resolution that would repeal an Obama era rule under the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) aimed at preventing discrimination at automobile dealerships, the 16th time the House used the Congressional Review Act to overturn an Obama administration rule. Members also passed seven small business-related measures.
Republicans have made the rollback of government regulations a high priority. In this case, they say the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau made a backdoor attempt to regulate how auto dealers negotiate loan terms with their customers, even though Congress explicitly exempted auto dealers from the agency's oversight.
Auto dealers often facilitate financing through a third-party lender. In some cases, the dealer will charge the customer an interest rate that is higher than what the third party agreed to charge. The lender then shares part or all of the extra profit with the dealer.
The CFPB said the practice led to some minority customers paying higher interest rates than similar white borrowers. In its guidance, it highlighted the potential liability auto lenders face from discriminatory "dealer mark-ups" and how that can be avoided.
Critics, including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the National Auto Dealers Association, said that they abhor discrimination but that the consumer bureau provided little concrete evidence of the problems that its guidance was intended to address. The powerful business groups called on House lawmakers to join the Senate in voting to block the agency's guidance. With the House vote of 234-175, the measure goes to President Donald Trump for his signature.
So far, Republicans in Congress and Trump have repealed 15 rules designed to provide health, consumer and environmental protections.
Most of the rules were finalized during the Obama administration's final months. Republicans say their regulatory rollbacks are rescuing businesses from burdensome government rules.
But the vote over auto lending went to a new level because lawmakers voted to rescind guidance issued five years ago. Such guidance conveys to the public how regulators interpret existing law and what steps industries should take to comply.
Rep. Mike Kelly (R-PA), said that his family has sold thousands of cars over the years and that his experience shows that auto dealers are trying to help people get affordable transportation. He said someone can't be in business for 65 years doing it the wrong way.
"How in the world can you reduce this down to discrimination?" asked Kelly.
Those words ignited the ire of the perpetually outraged “Mad Max” Waters.  Witness for yourself:

Race Baiter: MLK Would Have Wanted Impeachment Of President Trump

Denise McAllister is a cultural and political commentator for The Federalist, Real Clear Politics, and Hot Air. Today she posted a piece at PJ Media entitled, “Martin Luther King Jr. Tells Us To Take Personal Responsibility, Not Blame Others”.
One paragraph stood out: “Rage roams our streets looking for those to blame, always searching for fuel to maintain its fire. And there is always plenty to find in this fallen and imperfect world. Bitterness never fails to find a broken promise, a thoughtless word, a failed policy, or a lingering disappointment on which to feed.”
Enter Maxine Waters (D-CA), John Lewis (D-GA), Frederica Wilson (D-FL) and Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) who have announced they will skip President Trump’s State of the Union address on January 30.
Waters marked MLK Day on Twitter by suggesting the civil rights icon would have advocated for the impeachment of President Trump were he still alive today.
Jonathan Turley, a nationally recognized legal scholar who has written extensively in areas ranging from constitutional law to legal theory to tort law appeared on Fox’s The Story with Martha McCallum.  He noted that legislators do not need to be present for the SOTU and neither does the President.  He may merely deliver a written statement to the Speaker of the House.
“Having said that, it’s a long tradition.  The members have to distinguish between the officeholder and the office,” Turley said.  “It’s not about them.  People are really upset with their government.”  Turley called attending the address an “institutional responsibility.”

Silence Is Golden. Duct Tape Is Silver.

Do Democrats think the House and Senate Intelligence Committees can turn Trump’s election into an O.J. Simpson trial rerun?

Juan Williams, an inept and easily flummoxed pundit for Fox News penned a piece today for The Hill entitled “Trump’s Risk of Impeachment Rises”.  In the screed Williams exclaimed, “Liberal Democrats could yet see their dreams come true.”

“It is no fantasy to say the drip-drip-drip of the Trump-Russia investigations is draining this presidency of political capital. The president’s historically high disapproval rating— 51 percent in the latest McClatchy poll—tells the same story.”

Williams purports to know unequivocally “astute Republicans are starting to look out for themselves. The first Republican to begin to run for cover was Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who decided to recuse himself from any role in the investigation. Last week Michael Flynn, the former national security adviser, sought immunity in exchange for his testimony to congressional investigators.”

Williams and his league of whiny comrades continue to cling to the notion the “Trump White House continues to pursue a failing strategy of distraction” with “an unsupported claim that President Obama was wiretapping him.  That is now a claim that all but his most stalwart allies have abandoned.”

What Williams failed to take into account was the growing body of evidence revealing that Susan Rice and others as yet unnamed within the Obama Administration did, in fact, spy on individuals connected to the Donald Trump transition and campaign according to US officials familiar with the matter.  Reports said Rice’s requests contained valuable political information such as who the Trump team was meeting, the views of Trump associates on foreign policy matters and plans for the incoming administration.

"That Obama National Security Adviser Susan Rice is alleged to have been responsible for this unmasking is troubling given her history of deceit and her close relationship with then-President Obama," Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) said. "We need to know whether the material gleaned from the Rice unmasking is the material fed to the media in an attempt to do political damage to the Trump administration and, if so, who was responsible for leaking it."

DeSantis is Chairman of the Subcommittee on National Security.

Williams has joined Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) in fantasizing about a Trump resignation or impeachment before 2020.  Kicking over sand castles and handling the Left’s dirty dealing is Trump’s strong suit.

Do Not Adjust Your Set Komrades C-SPAN Has The Same Password As Podesta

Via The Washington ExaminerA C-SPAN broadcast of proceedings in the House of Representatives cut away from a floor speech by Maxine Waters (D-CA) to a broadcast of Russia Today for about 10 minutes Thursday.
Timothy Burke, an editor for the sports blog Deadspincaught the bizarre broadcast switch and said RT broadcast for about 10 minutes before it switched back.

C-SPAN said it was looking into the issue.

"This afternoon the online feed for C-SPAN was briefly interrupted by RT programming," C-SPAN said.

"We are currently investigating and troubleshooting this occurrence," it added. "As RT is one of the networks we regularly monitor, we are operating under the assumption that it was an internal routing issue. If that changes we will certainly let you know."

Waters was in the middle of talking about the Securities and Exchange Commission when the switch took place. RT is a state-run media organization broadcast in English that is often critical of the United States and particularly President Obama.

“Mad Maxine” Waters To Head House Financial Services Committee After Franks Retires

The Intertoobs are abwaze wiff the news that emerged fwom the Commonwealth of Massachusetts today as we wearned that Bawney Fwank will not wun for we-ewection in 2012.

He claims that gerrymandering his congressional district played a role in his decision, but I’m not so sure.

On August 13, 2009, Judicial Watch launched an investigation into a $12 million TARP (Troubled Asset Relief Program) cash injection provided to the Boston-based OneUnited Bank at the urging of Massachusetts Rep. Barney Frank.

Slate reveals the nature of Judicial Watch’s concerns from an email it obtained:

“That isn't quite the end of the story, because OneUnited needed not just the ability to get money, but the money itself. To do this, it needed leniency from the FDIC. On Oct. 17 King Mueller, deputy assistant secretary for banking and finance, wrote to others at Treasury that he had just spoken to an aide in Frank's office. "This is about One United Bank. … Maxine Waters is interested in the bank as well. … [Frank] is interested and may call [Paulson] again about this. … FDIC [has] … gotten similar interest from [Frank's] staff. The bank is worried about call report data that goes public on Oct 30th, concerned it could lead to a run if they don't have a [capitalization] plan in place by then. Obviously want to use TARP and likely will request much more than is set out in the term sheet—[Frank] will point to the Considerations language (Sec 103, subsection 6). …"   A few days later, Treasury's Mueller wrote again: "I got another call from BF's office about this. They continue to express concern about the Oct. 30th date. …"

Congresswoman Maxine Waters was caught helping arrange a taxpayer bailout for a bank where her husband was a former board member and had a significant financial interest.

An ethics hearing for Waters was to have taken place on November 29, 2010 but was indefinitely postponed due to the discovery of new documents connected to the charges.  A report from outside counsel on the matter is due January 2, 2012.

Waters is next in line to head the House Financial Services Committee and her allies are vowing “Armageddon” if her seniority does not land her the top slot. She is next in line after Frank on the panel but faces a potential challenge from Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY).

It’s an easy leap to make that if Waters does ascend to the chair of the committee that the issue of the $12 million dollar TARP funds for OneUnited Bank, Frank’s direct involvement in the cash infusion and Waters’ ethics charges would, somehow, magically be swept under the rug.

Corruption begets corruption.  Let’s hope Judicial Watch is successful in prosecuting its case against Frank and thereby creeks “Mad Maxine” in the process.

Maxine Waters: Proof That You Can Put Lipstick On A Gargoyle

With a room full of purple T-shirts being worn by SEIU thugs, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) announced to the assembled audience in Inglewood, CA there to attend a “Kitchen Table Summit” on unemployment that, “I’m not afraid of anybody.  This is a tough game.  You can’t be intimidated.  You can’t be frightened.  And as far as I’m concerned, the ‘Tea Party’ can go straight to hell.”
The Los Angeles Times reported on Saturday that California’s jobless rate went up to 12% from 11.8% and has the second-highest rate of unemployment in the country.  Nevada, Harry Reid’s home state, has a rate of 12.9%.  The U.S. average is 9.1%.
Waters exploits the foolish hopes of those who are hurting in this economy by inciting their fears and hatred.  The Democrats grow richer while the people who elect them grow poorer.
