One Week Remains To Nominate Your Favorite Blogs For The Third Annual Paul Revere Award
This
past Monday I announced The Third Annual Paul Revere Awards
for smaller conservative blogs which are all too often overlooked. For the past two years I have selected the
winners. This time around I decided to
open the award up to nominations from my readers.
The
nomination process began slowly but picked up late in the week with Woodsterman
doing yeoman’s work suggesting multiple interesting sites for the award.
The
nomination period will close next Saturday, June 20, 2015 at
12:00 PM EDT.
Click
on this link
to learn more about the award.
Meanwhile, below is the list of nominees so far. If you don’t see your favorite blog listed,
you can add it in the comments section below.

Nominations For The Third Annual Paul Revere Award
The brave
and resolute men and women behind those blogs hold down jobs and raise their
families or selflessly provide care for loved ones. Unfortunately, they are often overlooked. They possess an unwavering dedication to
inform and warn their readers.
They have the keen zest of the citizen whose patriotism is of the
lusty type that causes them to take an active part in politics. They add
humor and common sense and they deserve to be recognized.
I chose Paul Revere as the icon for the award because he was an
American patriot whose legendary “Midnight Ride” to warn the colonists of
Massachusetts before the historic battles at Lexington and Concord played a
vital role in America’s struggle to gain independence from Britain.
Paul Revere was not born to wealth—he was an ordinary man who
lived an extraordinary life. Revere was a patriot, a businessman, an involved
citizen, and a popular and well-respected member of his community.
An obituary in the Boston
Intelligence solemnly noted,
"Seldom has the tomb closed upon a life so honorable and useful."
In years past, I selected the winners. This year I’ve decided to open the award up
to nominations. The nomination period
will begin today and close on Saturday,
June 20, 2015 at 12:00 PM EDT.
Please nominate the blog(s) you would like to see win the Third Annual
Paul Revere Award in the comments section below. Just provide a link to the blog(s) you’d like to
nominate and I will take it from there.
Each winner will receive a personalized award in the form of a
badge which they can place on their website if they so choose.

They Say Humility Is Divine
For several years now,
Doug Ross has presented his Fabulous 50 Blog Awards recognizing blogs
and websites “which have worked tirelessly to promote conservatism, free market
capitalism, fiscal sanity, the sovereignty of the individual and otherwise
protect America from the cockroach-like Statists.”
As is the case every
year, your humble hobbit has somehow been overlooked. Perhaps it can be traced to the fact that I
lack literary flair, a charming attitude or animal magnetism to the opposite
gender. Whatever the reason, there are
still those who regard my work as worthy of a modicum of praise.
Doug Hagan,
proprietor of The Daley Gator, put a
smile on my face when he honored me with “The 50 Blogs You Must Follow In 2015.” Doug praised this
blog saying it was “one of a kind.” He
made my day, my month, hell, even my year.
They say humility is
divine. I’m in pretty good company in
Doug’s list. I will try to be
humble. Thank you Doug and thanks to
everyone for their readership. I hope
you will continue to stop by in the coming year.
I encourage you to
visit Doug’s blog and check out the entire
list.

Announcing A Wonderful Addition To Political Clown Parade
Today, I made a decision of which
I am very proud. Longtime blogger buddy
Proof, the proprietor of Proof
Positive, has graciously consented to become a co-blogger here at Political
Clown Parade.
Proof extols the wisdom of Mark
Twain who used satire to skewer society’s foibles. Proof possesses a roguish wit as evidenced by
his profile.
"Proof is a brilliant, ne’er-do-well,
billionaire playboy never seen in the same room at the same time as
Batman." He is so mischievous that he
suggests ways to contact him include shining a searchlight into the sky with a
silhouette of Mark Twain.
Proof’s humor and compassion,
more than anything, makes it easy to call him a friend.
We, he and I, are fellow
travelers who choose to stand guard over liberty. I look forward to his posts becoming a part
of this blog. He will be able to add
fresh content which is something my readers deserve.
Please welcome Proof with open
arms and an open heart. I just know you’ll
love his work. He thinks I’m adopting
him. I guess maybe I am.

Right Jabs For July 5, 2013
Politics is not a playground,
it’s a battlefield. Here are a few links from conservative bloggers who
are waging a war of words against the misanthropy, priggishness, prejudice,
luddism, illiberalism and irrationalism of the mainstream media bobble-head dolls
and groupthink poodles of the press corps.
The
idol of 2008, a healer of the Age of Oprah, dissolved faster in the eyes of
the American people. The man who promised that we could “be the change” we
wanted if we only could “believe,” had been mostly replaced by 2010 with a guy
who often explained that things were much worse than he thought and that we
could only “be the change” if Republicans stopped being so Republican-y.
How to thank
a soldier.
“The editors of The New York Times, Mr. Obama’s
most reliable sycophants, are deep in mourning, but working furiously to apply
more rouge to the corpse before it turns the parlor too fragrant for a wake.
Its summer and they’re running out of ice.”
"There's no doubt that historically, America has created its leadership in the world based on trust and power," Bonino said. "The damage created by the Snowden case, if confirmed, is above all a wound for the United States, not just for us Europeans, and I think as a friendly country we have the duty to say so. I am certain the American response won't take long."
If they implement the law,
they're seen as stifling small business and hurting the economy. If they delay
implementation, they're
viewed as incompetent.
By itself, the Obama
administration's decision to delay by one year the so-called employer mandate
will only affect about 4% of businesses in the United States. But with the
Affordable Care Act's glitches
piling up, it was logical and easy for Republicans to turn the news into
something symbolic of the overall "train wreck" that has come with
the law's implementation—ripe with implications for the near-term future and
the long-term outlook that includes the 2014 midterm election.
…given the breakdown in the
social contract in our cities, taxpayers were increasingly unwilling
to pour money down a rat hole.
Will this liar be prosecuted for
committing a felony in front of Congress? Don't bet on it, that's
why you need a corrupt Attorney General.
The executive branch is charged
with enforcing the law, and it can of course choose not to enforce the law if
it wants. But people can sue the federal government, and a judge could
theoretically force the administration to enforce the mandate.
So the question is: Would anyone
sue the Obama administration over this? Employers, of course, will be thrilled
to be spared the mandate for one more year. Democratic
politicians, similarly, will be glad to have this not hanging over their heads
for the 2014 mid-term election.
This used to be called “voting
with your feet.” If you get tired of living under a government’s taxes and
regulations, you
move.
If the mayor was home on the
Fourth of July, he’d look out to see hundreds in front of his home, holding
signs that read “#onetermmayor” and calling austerity a reason for some of the
city’s biggest problems. Dubbed
a fight against austerity, the group marched to Mayor Emanuel’s Ravenswood
home just after noon, standing on the sidewalk and parkway in front of his home
to fight everything from mass school closings in Chicago, to statewide
shutdowns of mental health clinics.
We could give Egypt our Constitution. We're not using it for anything.

But first, this little tale (pun most certainly intended):
But first, this little tale (pun most certainly intended):
The strapping young Marxist and
his shrill spouse will be trekking to sub-Saharan Africa later this month. They are due to travel to Senegal, South
Africa and Tanzania.
Originally, their plans included
a Tanzanian safari to drink in the beauty of that fascinating travel
destination where they could view the splendor of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount
Meru, relax on the beaches of the islands of Zanzibar, Mafia or Pemba and tour
The Serengeti National Park known for its unbelievable density of animals.
That density of animals would
have required the president’s special counterassault team to carry sniper rifles
with high-caliber rounds “that could neutralize (or what we poor folks like to call killing) cheetahs, lions and other vicious predators if they became a threat
according
to a leaked document.
But, alas, the safari has been canceled.
Gun grabbers are pissed finding
hypocrisy in the president’s “short-lived plan to rely on armed men for
protection from wildlife, using the same kind of weapons his administration
wants banned from public use to protect against human predators.”
“Mr. Obama shouldn’t need special counter-assault teams to neutralize threats,” Second Amendment Foundation founder Alan Gottlieb said. “He’s got the IRS for that doesn’t he?”
“Mr. Obama shouldn’t need special counter-assault teams to neutralize threats,” Second Amendment Foundation founder Alan Gottlieb said. “He’s got the IRS for that doesn’t he?”
And now, on to other news from
the dextrosphere:
And thus, the
bozo leviathan blunders on. Big Politically Correct Brother sees everything…and
nothing.
…
be patient. The White House powers-that-be have a plan, and they will
implement that plan on their schedule.
The left provides tyranny with
the social motive to come into being, but in the long run the left
is only the midwife of tyranny. Its ideology and activists dismantle
democracies and burgeoning democracies and replace them with tyrannies.
When I grow up, that's
the team I want to play for.
If Sarah
Palin had become president…
The disbelief you once had that a
society could willingly stroll to a totalitarian condition? You’re
watching it happen.
It’s almost like it was designed
to fail or something.
It is a great irony, and history
will marvel at it, that the president most committed to expanding the
centrality, power, prerogatives and controls of the federal government is also
the president who, through lack of care, arrogance, and an absence of any sense
of prudential political boundaries, has
done the most in our time to damage trust in government.
Benghazi had death under
terrifying circumstances, the IRS scandal had the most feared federal agency on
the rampage against innocent citizens, the Justice Department scandal had
reporters targeted for doing their jobs. But it is the NSA scandal that has
provided the context for all the others, that has brought them together as a bleak and brooding menace
threatening American life as it has always been lived.
Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there and a special
thanks to all my readers.

It’s a mad,

sometimes people—even our young folks—manage to get it right.
“Big
government needs cheap voters. Big business needs cheap labor. Big government
wants big business to pick up the tab for their cheap votes through higher
taxes. Big business wants cheap labor without having to pay for their social
welfare benefits. After the obligatory tug of war wraps up, the tab for all
those cheap votes and cheap labor will be dumped on the middle class which
is being forced to fund its own destruction.”

Right Jabs For December 16, 2012
This week’s
Right Jabs edition is a more somber, reverent one. One tiny town in America has been stricken by
the unimaginable.
As more
information emerges about the young man who wrought such evil and the heroes
who fought back against him, we as a nation, reflect with grief and deepest
sorrow the lives left behind that have been forever changed.
There are many
reasons to despise the current American media.
For once,
think of Newtown, the town where Christmas will never be the same. A place
where school will never hold the same sense of security for the children or
their families, Parents in Newtown will never drop their children off at the
school doors again without telling them how much they love them. So spare us all for a decent interval the
long distance shibboleths of gun control, the amateur psychoanalysis, the
morbid and soul-killing paparazzi shots of parents learning for the first time
of the slaughter of their children. Let's
have a decent silence to contemplate the eternal nature of evil and the tragic
loss we all feel.
He could also
take pleasure in giving his wife the
best Christmas present ever.
…the
sixties are now complete: A president supported by an ex-Weatherman and the
New Black Panthers might as well have a Winter Soldier in his
cabinet for the complete Radical Chic Meets Geritol experience. If only Leonard
Bernstein was still around to savor the moment.
Where
do you get your pizza now, liberals?
A
cliff is no place to look shy, timid or lost.
Beneath the
expressions of grief, sorrow and disbelief over the Connecticut school massacre
lies
an uneasy truth in Washington: over
the last few years the Obama administration and Congress quietly let federal
funding for several key school security programs lapse in the name of budget
savings.
The
great ship Truth and Reality is sinking and fast, and it’s imperative that
we RIGHT the ship before it’s too late.
So as a
nation, we've made the decision to guard our money with armed security
officers. At the same time, when Americans send their children to school,
what guards them? School secretaries. Video cameras. Metal
detectors. Gun-Free zones. In
other words, nothing. If
this country really loves its kids, we'd better start protecting them at least
as well as we protect our money.
If Democrats
really want to go down this road, perhaps they should practice what they
preach. In 2011, Gallup did a survey of self-reported gun ownership in the
U.S. What
did they find?
Holy Innocents
by Christina
Georgina Rossetti
Sleep, little Baby, sleep,
The holy Angels love thee,
And guard thy bed, and keep
A blessed watch above thee.
No spirit can come near
Nor evil beast to harm thee:
Sleep, Sweet, devoid of fear
Where nothing need alarm thee.
The Love which doth not sleep,
The eternal arms around thee:
The shepherd of the sheep
In perfect love has found thee.
Sleep through the holy night,
Christ-kept from snare and sorrow,
Until thou wake to light
And love and warmth to-morrow.

“…you can have
open borders or you can have a welfare state, but
you can’t have both”.
There's
a reason it's called "Black Friday."
Here's to the crazy ones.
The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes.
“Could it be
that the Editorial Board of the Washington
Post is a pack of pathetic political hacks who’ll engage in racial
hate speech in order to
advance the White House’s agenda?”
It’s quite
obvious who made up the fantasy about the YouTube video, so
let’s quit playing games.
…how soon
until conservatives turn on him as a complete sellout? My guess
is it'll happen as soon
as some of those 2000+ pages of provisions start to kick in.
Buckle up,
freedom loving patriots; we’re in for a bumpy ride.
It’s déjà
vu all over again.
Is there no Democrat with virtue who
will decry this madness?
If they throw
away their alleged principles and try to out-Democrat Democrats, the GOP
could easily end up losing even more than it hopes to gain. It’s a complex,
not a simple equation.
Why
does anyone care what Marco Rubio thinks about creationism?
“The entire
English language was created by slave owners as a means of oppression. You
can’t just say that one word is a racist code word or another. The whole
language, every single word, letter and apostrophe in it is racist. It’s a
fact. If
you speak English, you’re a racist.”
Hey,
why not? The national government is nothing but a farce these days
anyway.
Why are we
here? To get drunk? Yes, but Americans are specifically in this place because
we're not like the rest of the world. With our dedication to preservation of
liberty, we should be happy when the rest of the world doesn't like us. Not to be
mean, but the feeling's mutual, except for how we usually have a case.
They no longer
wished to be part of a union held together by “force
of bayonet”.
Instead of
running a “we’re thankful for…” editorial Thursday, something positive, the Washington Post editorial board
attempted some
tushy covering for Team Obama and Susan Rice.
