It’s Going To Be Weird Watching Robert De Niro As Mueller Singing “Hallelujah” On Saturday Night Live

The satirical show will be back with its new season on Saturday, March 30 and it’s going to be delicious to watch.

How delicious?

Remember the first episode after Donald Trump won the 2016 presidential election?  The show opened with Kate McKinnon dressed as Hillary Clinton singing Leonard Cohen’s mournful “Hallelujah”.

It was a bizarre response to Granny’s cataclysmic loss just four days before that was more like a lobotomy than recognition of Trump’s victory.  At the end of the song, McKinnon said, with her voice noticeably cracking, “I’m not giving up and neither should you.  And live from New York, it’s Saturday Night!”

The announcement late Friday afternoon that Special Counsel Robert Mueller had submitted his long-awaited report on Russian interference in the 2016 election to Attorney General William Barr sent Democrats, Hollywood types, Never Trumpers and a wide array of Lefty news anchors and pundits into a shitstorm of panic.

The disappointment is real from Democrats who had their hearts set on vindication that President Trump was going down. It’s as though they actually thought he would be frog-marched out of the White House in leg irons.

Hollywood celebrities are inconsolable:
Robert De Niro made a couple of appearances on Saturday Night Live last year in the role of Robert Mueller due, in large part, to a video he made in which he called the president a punk, a pig and a dog, and said he would like to punch him in the face.  At the 2018 Tony Awards he screamed at the top of his lungs, “I’m gonna say one thing.  Fuck Trump!”  The outburst won De Niro a standing ovation.

De Niro has been driven insane by his loathing of the president.  So…it wouldn’t surprise me at all that Lorne Michaels books him to do the “Hallelujah” gig.

Now that’ll be funny.

I Can’t Make You Love Me

Saturday Night Live has noticed Hillary Clinton’s struggles in her bid for the presidency.  The New York Times reported that Bernie Sanders beat her in New Hampshire by carrying majorities of both men and women—those with and without college degrees, gun owners and non-gun owners, liberals and moderates—and all age groups except voters aged 45-64 earning over $200,000 a year.

SNL has historically been kind to Clinton.  Not so this past Saturday night as their cold open featured The Ice Cube In Heels belting out Bonnie Raitt’s melancholy hit “I Can’t Make You Love Me” pleading for the support of millennials.

“Hillary has every single thing I want in a president,” said one millennial.  Another said, “She’s no Bernie!”  Yet another adds, “I like when Bernie yells but not when Hillary does.”

One scene in the sketch has Hillary perched on a white grand piano with Bill pretending to tickle the ivories begging, “Like her for my sake.”

The Clinton camp is panicked as new polling suggests Sanders has eliminated Clinton’s significant lead with Democratic voters nationally.

Prepare For War

Corruptocrat, former First Lady, New York senator and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will officially announce, via video and social media, her intention to seek the 2016 Democratic nomination for president today.

The Hag is renowned for being a sham, aggravating and programmed in each and every response.  She’s absurdly inauthentic, as evidenced by her 2007 campaign bullshit speech about being “no ways tired.”  She is eternally conspiracy-minded and a brazen fabulist
She will attempt to divide the nation on cultural issues because she cannot formulate a cogent economic or foreign policy.  She will enter the election believing the “culture wars” to be the best and safest political ground for her. She will portray Republicans as engaged in a “war on women” in such a way that past efforts will look like a walk in the park.

The New York Post’s Michael Goodwin opines, “So far, something about Hillary does not seem right for the present, let alone the future. Aides have been discounting the early going as a false measure, and assuring backers that she’ll right the ship once she launches.”

“Perhaps, but she is taking on much more water than they had expected, and her margin for error is shrinking fast. The polls suggest there is a tipping point with voters and inevitable stumbles and scandals could make 2016 look like 2008.”

If you doubt there is a disturbance in the force, consider Saturday Night Live’s Cold Open last night:

Curmudgeonly Cartoon: There Will Be No Mistakes In My Rise To The Top

Saturday Night Live’s Cold Open featured Kate McKinnon in the role of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who as we all know, is fixated on becoming the first female president of the United States.

While mildly funny, I believe the skit would have been considerably funnier if there had been a “Billy Jeff” character seated on the sofa with Cankles and the infamous homebrew server in plain view of the couple.

Dad, It’s Just ISIS

Chris Spargo of The Daily Mail thinks Saturday Night Live “pushed the envelope” this week with a parody of a car commercial that had a young girl joining ISIS.

I confess that my television viewing habits do not include voluntarily submitting to liberal gibberish.  Several sites, including TMZ, have put up polls for readers to vote on whether they found the skit disgusting or funny.  I watched the video and think it was pitifully unfunny.

There are those who took to Twitter to express their disgust:
The skit, in my opinion, was a weak attempt to mock a president who stated for the record that ISIS was a JV team—a bunch of nobodies—a man who declared to the United Nations days after US Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens was brutally slaughtered in Benghazi by savages who adhere to the filthy heresy of Islam, “The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam.”

During World War II Charlie Chaplin, the Marx Brothers and The Three Stooges mocked Adolph Hitler.

I chose to mock The World’s Most Dangerous Community Organizer posing him in the above Photoshop™ as he diminished the Office of the President of the United States with a Selfie Stick from the Buzzfeed video that went viral.

The Fraudulence Paradox

Saturday Night Live first aired nearly 40 years ago.  I was a 20-something way back then and the show was hilarious.

With talent like Gilda Radner, Chevy Chase, John Belushi, Jane Curtin, Bill Murray and Dan Ackroyd, The Not Ready For Prime Time Players parodied politics and culture with their edgy skits.

In part because I matured over the years, and because the show became politically charged, SNL was no longer funny and I stopped watching it.  I still don’t.  I don’t have that kind of time to waste.

Many have credited the show with having an effect on the 2008 election, known as the "SNL Effect".

After years of being silent about The World’s Most Dangerous Community Organizer, SNL has finally begun mocking he who must not be mocked.

Last Saturday, SNL skewered TWMDCO’s shameful behavior during the memorial service for Nelson Mandela and also took aim at a fake sign language interpreter.  The Mandela memorial was the biggest state funeral since Winston Churchill’s 32 years earlier.

When I saw the Saturday Night Live skit with Kenan Thompson portraying the fake interpreter flailing behind Jay Pharoah who was playing the part of POTUS, I busted a gut.

It is impossible to respect this president.  He has become a laughingstock around the globe.  Its high time SNL jumped in.  Mocking The World’s Most Dangerous Community Organizer is not committing sacrilege.  Of course, this thin-skinned president may imperil their jobs for having done so.
