A Disgraceful Charade

Today after numerous delays, the House of Representatives voted on a resolution intended to condemn anti-Semitism that morphed into a rebuke of other forms of bigotry.

Eliot Engel (D-NY), who chairs the House Foreign Affairs Committee on which anti-Semite Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) sits, questioned why a move to condemn her hateful remarks had devolved into little more than an obvious statement that hatred in all its forms is unacceptable.

Engel went on to say, “This resolution is a fine resolution and I will support it, but I am very disappointed that we weren’t able to have a separate resolution to specifically condemn anti-Semitism and what our colleague said that really was a very hateful term.”

Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY) complained of a double standard.  “Let’s all be honest with each other, we are here today, right now, because of anti-Semitic rhetoric from one member of this chamber said again and again and again we would not be on this floor otherwise to discuss this topic. If that member were a Republican that member’s name would be in this resolution and this resolution would be all about condemning anti-Semitism and it would be done so forcefully.”

Tiana Lowe at The Washington Examiner noted, The final “iteration” of the Resolution passed today begins with a condemnation of both anti-Semitism and "anti-Muslim discrimination and bigotry." The preamble name-drops an assortment of genuine horribles—the alt-Right marchers of Charlottesville, the Charleston church shooter, "anti-Muslim" bigotry, and mosque bombing—but in context, this does little but clutter the Resolution sufficiently that one might not realize this is all about Omar's anti-Semitism. She is the sole reason this resolution is being proposed and voted on in the first place, yet her anti-Semitism now appears to play a secondary role in it.

Democrats have done nothing right since taking over the House last November.  Since that time they voted against guaranteeing medical care to babies actually born alive, backed the $93 trillion Green New Deal and Medicare for All in toto and now refuse to condemn the unrepentant and relentless anti-Semitism of Rep. Omar.

They spent the bulk of the day flailing to add as many aggrieved groups to their factitious anti-hate resolution as possible. It began as a resolution to repudiate Omar's anti-Semitism, but by the end it was so watered down it will inevitably embolden further anti-Semitic bilge in the future. Pelosi isn’t in charge anymore. 

The economically illiterate “pompous little twit” and the anti-Semite tail is wagging the dog.

Elected To Office To Deceive Infidels In The Furtherance Of Islam

On Wednesday of this week, the U.S. House of Representatives unanimously passed a broad condemnation of anti-Semitism days after Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) received widespread criticism over her comments on Israel.

Republicans used the so-called "motion to recommit" vote to call for the addition of language to a resolution that states it is in the "national interests of the United States to combat anti-Semitism at home and abroad."

Omar drew widespread condemnation for a tweet last Sunday implying Congressional support for Israel has been bought by money from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).

Omar rendered a half-hearted apology for her remarks Monday, tweeting "Anti-Semitism is real, and I am grateful for Jewish allies and colleagues who are educating me on the painful history of anti-Semitic tropes."

Spare me, honey.

This week’s contentious tweet was not her first. In 2012 she tweeted “Israel has hypnotized the world; may Allah awaken the people and help them see the evil doings of Israel.”

Ilhan Omar defeated Jennifer Zielinski (R) in the 2018 general election to replace anti-Semite Keith Ellison.  Ellison, you’ll remember, was exposed for continuing a relationship with Louis Farrakhan, head of the anti-Semitic political and religious movement Nation of Islam.  His efforts to distance himself from the man who compared Jews to termites earned him four Pinocchios in a fact check performed by the Washington Post.  Ellison met privately with “Calypso Louie” as late as 2016.

Now Ilhan Omar enjoys access to the corridors of American power.

Omar fled her native Mogadishu, Somalia when she was 8 years old and spent four years in a refugee camp in Kenya. She came to the U.S. as a 12-year-old and eventually settled in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood of Minneapolis, which has long been a first stop for new arrivals in the U.S.

Starting in the 1990s, the State Department directed thousands of refugees from Somalia’s civil war to Minnesota, which is now home to the largest population of Somalis outside Somalia itself.

It soon emerged that millions of taxpayer dollars, and possibly much more, had been stolen through a massive scam of Minnesota’s Social Services sector, specifically through fraudulent daycare claims. To make matters worse, the money appears to have wound up in areas of Somalia controlled by al-Shabab, the Islamic jihadist group responsible for numerous terrorist outrages.

According to a published report by Twin Cities Pioneer Press, Minnesota has the highest number of refugees per capita nationwide, according to the U.S. Census and refugee support agencies. With 2 percent of the nation’s population, Minnesota has 13 percent of its refugees.

Data reveals refugees cost an estimated $107,000 each in food stamps, medical expenses, job training and English lessons.  Communities have no control over the influx of refugees, yet they must share the cost of supporting them. And residents often don’t speak out or even ask questions of the process for fear of being called racists, according to Kim Crockett, vice president of the Center of the American Experiment.

According to the DGlobe (of Worthington) in 2015, Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton (D) sought to stifle public discussion regarding refugee resettlement.  He advised native Minnesotans with qualms to move out. “If you are that intolerant, if you are that much of a racist or a bigot, then find another state,” he said. “Find a state where the minority population is 1% or whatever. It’s not that in Minnesota.” Dayton also made an economic argument that did not exactly fit the case of Third World immigrants who are themselves heavy consumers of welfare benefits. “Our economy cannot expand based on white, B+, Minnesota-born citizens. We don’t have enough,” he said.

A September 2015 report of the House Homeland Security Committee task force on combating terrorist and foreign-fighter travel revealed that Minnesota led all states in contributing foreign fighters to ISIS. Reviewing the public cases of 58 Americans who joined or attempted to join ISIS, the task force found that 26 percent of them came from Minnesota. Somali Minnesotans occasionally appear in the headlines as “Minnesota men” who have taken up jihad. In 2015, ten such Minnesota men were charged with seeking to join ISIS in Syria; six pleaded guilty and three were convicted in June 2016 (one is presumed dead in Syria).  

Rep. Omar, like all members of Congress have access to intelligence provided by the Foreign Broadcast Information Service of the CIA by virtue of their elected positions.  They do not receive security clearances per se.

Rep. Omar sits on the Budget, Education and Labor, and Foreign Affairs Committees of the House. She should be removed from all three due to her animus against Jews and Catholics  (see the Covington Catholic boys incident). The idea of having someone with an animus against Jews and Catholics sitting on the Foreign Affairs Committee in judgment of Israel is unbearable.

While a few members of her party publicly denounced Omar’s reprehensible anti-Semitism, many remained silent or side-stepped the issue.  

According to Congressional Research Service, under Article I, Section 5, clause 2, of the Constitution, a member of Congress may be removed from office before the normal expiration of his or her constitutional term by an “expulsion” from the House of Representatives upon a formal vote on a resolution agreed to by two-thirds of the Members present and voting.

As to removal by recall, the United States Constitution does not provide for nor authorize the recall of United States officers such as Senators, Representatives, or the President or Vice President.

Omar’s condescension and hostility are grating. She rarely, if ever, expresses gratitude to the United States for receiving her and her family. Instead, she daily portrays herself as a victim of discrimination by the country that rescued her.

I hope Nick Sandmann is successful in his libel suit for the brutal lies that destroyed his life and reputation.  My amusement that Rep. Omar is listed in that suit is boundless.

Maybe, just maybe, Minnesota’s despicable Congresswoman will be forced to fully renounce her bigotry.

John Kerry, Hamas, Qatar, Iran And Treachery

I spent most of a rainy Sunday morning watching the talking heads on the Sunday political talk shows and sat in amazement at the veiled anti-Semitism on parade.  I was especially appalled at the heavy-handed manner in which CNN’s Candy Crowley kept nudging the conversation in the direction of blaming Israel for the bitter war between the Israelis and the genocidal terrorist organization Hamas.  A bitter war, I might add, that Israel sought earnestly to avoid.

Mike Rogers (R-MI), Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee appeared on Meet The Press and Face The Nation.  It was the Face The Nation interview that yielded the most telling evidence of just how complicit the mainstream media has been by choosing, yes choosing, to portray Israel as some horrible aggressor.

The point at which this became evident was when the host, Bob Schieffer asked, as though inexplicably shocked, “But I thought the Qataris were our allies here?”

Here’s the transcript:

"That's what's so frustrating with the administration," he said "All of this works together. You can't just pick and choose one particular region; it has to work in concert. So when you free up $2.8 billion for Iran, when they're already cash strapped because of sanctions, that means they can continue to do bad activities in the Gaza Strip, including we believe at least missile components."

He said that Qatar, which acts as a U.S. ally on other issues, are also funneling money to Hamas, as are some sources inside of Saudi Arabia. And, Rogers added, the militant group also takes legitimate foreign aid dollars coming into the region to put toward building tunnels into Israel that the Israeli government is working to destroy.

"Think about how obscene that is, the hundreds of millions of dollars they've had over a decade. Twenty percent of the people in Gaza Strip aren't connected to a water source. Ninety percent of all the water there doesn't meet international standards. But they've got, I think the Israelis disclosed, 35 tunnels. So they're diverting legitimate money. And you have Iran that is aligned into this particular interest in a way that's very, very dangerous," he said.

In an earlier interview on "Face the Nation," Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the army had discovered a "vast underground terror kingdom" meant to give Hamas a way to carry out attacks in Israel. He promised Israel would not stop trying to destroy the tunnels, although he did not specify whether there would be an expansion of the current ground invasion.

But Rogers warned that the combination of Iranian and Qatari support for Hamas and for certain factions in Syria is "intertwined in a way that makes it a very dangerous stew indeed."

SCHIEFFER: Mr. Chairman, let's just go back to Israel for a minute. Hamas continues to fire these rockets.  They have poured all this concrete, as you heard Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu talk about.  Where are they getting this stuff? 

SCHIEFFER: But I thought the Qataris were our allies here? 

ROGERS: Well, this is what makes this region so interesting. 

So, you have Iran and the Qataris are supporting Hamas, and certainly factions thereof. They're also supporting places in Syria. So, that is why this is so intertwined in a way that makes it a very dangerous stew, indeed. 

It is one common thing that the Shias and the Sunnis do not like, and that is a Jewish Israel state. That is confirmed. And I think they have found an outlet to try to do this. And it's spreading to other areas, Bob. This is what is the other problem. There is the unseen war in this particular event, and that is the new cyber front. 

There are not only what you see coming from Hamas, attacks on Israel, but now we have nation states engaged in the region in cyber-conflict that could cause this to escalate in a way that is very, very dangerous for stability. 

SCHIEFFER: How much do you think they have? How much money do you think has been poured into these tunnels? It's literally millions of dollars which, as I understand it, came in there to build schools and things of that nature. 

ROGERS: Well, again, I think they diverted some of the legitimate money. Clearly, that happened. Instead of building wells or water infrastructure, they diverted that money to build these tunnels. 

And I think that they are getting money again from Iran, who has been a maligned force in that whole entire region. Think about it. They are putting Hezbollah in the fight in Syria and supplying Hamas in the Gaza Strip with weapons. That is the difficult part here. 

And what is concerning about that is just about 10 days ago or so, the United States agreed to allow Iran to have another $2.8 billion released just for them to continue nuclear negotiations. And that is what is so frustrating with the administration now. 

All of this works together. You can't just pick and choose one particular region. It has to work in concert. When you free up $2.8 billion for Iran, when they are already cash-strapped because of sanctions that means they can continue to do bad activities in the Gaza Strip, including missile—we believe, at least missile components. What they have—we understand, according to public reports, they have even offered to help hide those missile systems, and their work in Syria with supporting the Assad regime. 

It's not working in concert that is helping us cause this confusion around the Middle East. 

SCHIEFFER: Well, Congressman, I want to tell you, you have explained and made this thing even more dire than I understood it at the beginning of this broadcast.

More dire.

Avi Issacharoff reported the content of John Kerry’s ceasefire proposal writing, “Israel and the US are meant to be allies; the US is meant to be committed to the protection of Israel in this most ruthless of neighborhoods; together, the US and Israel are meant to be trying to marginalize the murderous Islamic extremism that threatens the free world. Yet here was the top US diplomat appearing to accommodate a vicious terrorist organization bent on Israel’s destruction, with a formula that would leave Hamas better equipped to achieve that goal.”

Whether through ineptitude, malice, or both, Kerry’s intervention was not a case of America’s top diplomat coming to our region to help ensure, through astute negotiation, the protection of a key ally. This was a betrayal.
