Built Like A Brick ... Fortress

We're all hoping for a peaceful resolution to the Venezuela crisis, especially to the demands made by dictator Maduro for all US personnel to abandon their embassy.
The US Embassy in Caracas was built decades ago as a fortress to withstand terror attacks.
The five-story, 100,000-square-foot structure sits atop a hill — and a massive American flag flown outside is visible throughout much of the capital.
The granite-clad building with at least one level underground was “designed and constructed to withstand terrorist attack,” according to LERA Structural Engineers.

I'm thinking reinforced poured concrete walls, polycarbonate bulletproof windows, safe rooms and a detachment of Marines. After the Benghazi debacle, I doubt that POTUS will allow another mob to storm a US embassy, legation, consulate or asparagus garden.

Why do Marines guard our embassies? The Foreign Service Act of 1946 (replaced by 10 U.S.C. §5983 in 2008) authorizes the Secretary of the Navy to provide this service. Marines fall directly under executive command, no need to authorize their actions via an act of Congress. Therefore "First To Fight" is one of their slogans.

Once Again Socialism Runs Its Course

A very wise person once said that "The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money." Venezuela has reached that point and now is paying the price, for once you're out of money in a socialistic country the only thing left of value is blood. It is indeed a tragedy as this nation was once South America's wealthiest.

Venezuela's dictator, Nicolas Maduro, is fighting to retain power. At least four people are dead in rioting that broke out today. Millions have left the country due to a failing economy, hyperinflation, no food, no medicine … you know, socialism at its best.

Fraudulent elections have a way of supporting socialism and Venezuela is no different. The Presidential elections last May were plagued with allegations of fraud and rigged voter registration. It was rumored that some of Maduro's campaign advisors were Hillary Clinton and Donna Brazile.

Almost every Central and South American country (with the exception of Cuba, Nicaragua, Bolivia and San Salvador) refused to attend Maduro's inauguration, as well as Canada and the US. The Organization of American States also refused to recognize Maduro's election.

Today POTUS joined other nations in recognizing the government of the opposition leader, Juan Guadio.

Venezuela Erupts Against Dictator Maduro as His Socialist Regime Starts to Completely Collapse

Hundreds-of-thousands of people took to the streets in Venezuela Wednesday afternoon in protest of illegitimate President Nicolas Maduro and in support of internationally recognized President Juan Guadio.
[…]On Wednesday afternoon the Trump administration, in partnership with a number of Central and South American countries, officially declared Maduro is no longer recognized as the leader of Venezuela and that Guadio is the legitimate President of the country.

The Bronx Bolshevik And The Old Guy Who Combs His Hair With A Balloon

When Bernie Sanders appeared in Wichita, Kansas a week ago he said, “ideas once considered to be radical are now part of the mainstream.”

Alongside him on the dais was the Democrat Party’s “Next Big Thing”.  A Bronx Bolshevik who has been toasted on the Sunday talk shows, is making videos with Bernie and running around the country on a breathless endorsement tour.

Alexandria Ocasio Cortez credits her primary win over New York Democrat Joe Crowley, who was expected to succeed Nancy Pelosi as Democrat leader of the House, to the efforts of the George Soros-backed BrandNewCongress.org and Justice Democrats.

The policies of Justice Democrats include:  securing a living wage tied to inflation, enacting a federal jobs guarantee, healthcare as a right, tuition-free public colleges, law enforcement reform, abolishing ICE and enacting common sense gun regulation.

Socialism polls brilliantly with the core Democrat base of angry government workers, angry college students, angry welfare recipients and San Francisco eco-billionaires who keep all their money in Caribbean banks.

The Democrats are no longer sure of the difference between whatever it is they believe and socialism. That’s because they have no ideas other than resisting Trump and hating Republicans.

Now I know some trolls on the Left will read this and be tempted to post their defiance of the opinions expressed in the comment section here.  So, for them I will cite a source they can scarcely rebut.

From NBC News:

As Venezuela’s economy crumbles, daily life has become a constant struggle, consisting of waiting in line for food and stretching a minuscule wage that each day buys fewer goods.

The country's monthly minimum wage of 1,307,000 bolívars — around $6.03 on the black market — is enough for two cartons of eggs, a kilo (about 2.2 pounds) of cornmeal and a box of pasta, or two liters of milk, four cans of tuna and a loaf of bread.

Venezuela sits on the world’s largest oil reserve and was once one of Latin America’s wealthiest countries. But as hyperinflation continues to rise to levels not seen anywhere in the world, money loses more and more value.

Venezuela’s crisis can be traced back to Hugo Chávez, who was elected in 1998 on a promise to share the country’s oil wealth with the poor.

He relied heavily on oil revenues to fund his “21st Century Socialism,” agenda, importing goods and selling them at subsidized prices to make things more affordable.

But when oil prices collapsed around 2014, Venezuela had little savings to fall back on. Since then, the government has cut imports and used its small reserves to pay its foreign debt and avoid default. This has turned into a crisis, with shortages in everything from medicine to food.

Billions disappeared from the economy due to cronyism, with Transparency International naming Venezuela one of the most corrupt countries in the world. The socialist utopia has transformed into a failed country.

The Venezuelan people rummage in stinking piles of rubbish for rotten cabbage leaves, desiccated limes and scraps of fetid meat. Zoos have been forced to slaughter animals to feed their starving population and dozens of desperate men were filmed this year shouting “we are hungry” as they surrounded cattle and beat them to death with stones for the meat.

The only part of socialism its intellectually bankrupt adherents enjoy are the freebies.

The late British Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher noted, “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people’s money.”

History tells us that even before they run out of money, the socialists will run out of sanity.

President Trump Stumps The UN

Say what you will, President Trump shock rocked the world in his speech to the United Nations General Assembly. And he did it without a teleprompter.
Contrary to his mealy-mouthed predecessors, the President called a spade an entrenchment tool and let the world know that he will defend America's interests and that the free ride is over. The UN must clean up its act. Trump also singled out three nations whose activities are of special concern to America.
First, North Korea:
"The United States has great strength and patience, but if it is forced to defend itself or its allies, we will have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea. Rocket Man is on a suicide mission for himself and for his regime."
This is not new. For most of his term in office, President Trump has been warning North Korea's Insane Boy Clown For Life that he is walking on a razor's edge. What is new is that the UN's General Assembly was treated to the harsh clanging of an American President who has brass ones.
Second on Trump's "List of Nations I Want To Bitch Slap" was Iran:
"The Iranian government masks a corrupt dictatorship behind the false guise of a democracy. It has turned a wealthy country with a rich history and culture into an economically depleted rogue state whose chief exports are violence, bloodshed, and chaos."
America owes Iran a severe ass kicking. The terrorists who run the remains of the Persian Empire have been killing Americans for decades without a single cruise missile to remind them that Uncle Sam's beard is not a trapeze. I still remember 241 Marines murdered in their barracks and the US embassy in Beirut destroyed under Reagan's watch.
There's been a shit ton of interest accruing just for these two incidents much less the chaos and death the Iranian government have abetted since then. It's way past time for the US to collect on this debt.
Third, our once friendly neighbor to the south, Venezuela:
"The problem in Venezuela is not that socialism has been poorly implemented, but that socialism has been faithfully implemented. From the Soviet Union to Cuba to Venezuela, wherever true socialism or communism has been adopted, it has delivered anguish and devastation and failure."
Boom chica wow wow. That left a mark on Lenin's ass in Hell. The people of Venezuela are suffering terribly and there is only one reason why their distress is so great…their government. Thank you, Lord Jesus for delivering us from Hillary Chavez.
More here.
Of course the libs are foaming at the mouth and chasing their tails after listening to the President's UN speech, as expected. What I find really disturbing is Chief of Staff John Kelly's reaction while his boss was delivering the message.

Kelly needs to go. If this idiot cannot keep a poker face while his President is addressing the world he should get a paper route to supplement his Army pension.
Get rid of Kelly Mr. President.
