The Circus Came To Cedar Rapids, Iowa On Sunday

Nineteen party clowns with bubbles coming out of their hinies got five minutes apiece to address Iowa Democrats from a single stage in Cedar Rapids on Sunday. It was the first official one of its kind in the 2020 campaign season.

The high-profile audition came as Democrats are jockeying for position on abortion rights, economic inequality, global warming, health care, gun control, foreign policy and Trump Derangement Syndrome.

Pete Buttigieg, who hopes to be America's first openly gay president, spoke disdainfully of President Trump's ability to maintain a grip on the nation's political attention. 

He said Americans should embrace popular-vote presidential elections, demand steep minimum-wage increases and lean toward statehood for Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia.

Buttigieg blasted the President for promoting a “vision of security that goes no further than putting up a wall from sea to shining sea” which he said ignores “the violent white nationalism that presents a clear and present threat to our country.”

That’s a dubious assertion given that this happened at the event:

And in a veiled slap at Republicans' longstanding alliance with evangelical groups that condemn his wedded-gay lifestyle, Buttigieg glared at cameras declaring, “God does not belong to any political party, least of all the one that produced this current president.”

Buttigieg, an amateur pianist, walked to the convention center after playing keyboard onstage with a hired band at a “Picnic with Pete” event at a nearby park.

At a ceremony for Olympic and Paralympic athletes Friday at the White House, President Trump said “What happened with the Paralympics was so incredible and so inspiring to me. And I watched — it’s a little tough to watch too much, but I watched as much as I could. It was really fantastic, and I want to thank you.”

The Trump haters decided the President’s comment “occupied a gray area of offensiveness.”

Scott Adams, the millionaire creator of the office-humor comic strip Dilbert who switched his endorsement from Clinton to Trump in September 2016 noticed Hayes’ Trump Derangement Syndrome and decided to explore the “bubble” these Trump haters cocoon themselves in. 

Dilbert’s creator congratulated Hayes for escaping his TDS prison following Hayes’ admission he’d wrongly accused the President of mocking the teams whose achievements he was celebrating.

Tweetin’ With The Prez

Űber-liberal factions in America continue apace with their pathetic Trump Derangement Syndrome.

Michael Moore tweeted Tuesday: “Trump is not president until 12 noon on Jan. 20th. So we’ll continue to fight hope to find a legal, nonviolent way to stop this madness.” New York Times columnist Paul Krugman similarly tweeted: “We should never accept this as OK. It may be the new normal, but that’s a new normal in which the America we knew and loved is gone.” Then there’s Keith Olbermann, who is advising his viewers not to refer to the incoming commander-in-chief as “President Trump.”

“Our betters” express their undisguised contempt for tens of millions of Americans who voted for Trump with heightened snobbery and condescension.  They bury themselves in the most absurd way imaginable screaming impotently into the void.

The President-elect has 17.8 million followers on Twitter as a counter-weight to media bias—a direct line of communication with his supporters—a way to shape his agenda.  He recently told CBS’s Lesley Stahl in a 60 Minutes interview, “I’m not saying I love it, but it does get the word out…I have a method of fighting back.”  He went on to say he’d be “restrained” in what he tweets as president.

The left is aghast.  Julie Davis of The New York Times feels Trump’s use of Twitter is an “unprecedented  experiment” that has “opened a window” on the presidency unlike any before.  “His habit of making unguarded and unvetted statements direct to the public has fascinating implications.  It will affect how the world reads official proclamations from the White House.  I’m mystified at the notion that we should somehow ignore what are, by most accounts, completely unrehearsed, un-poll-tested utterances from the mouth of the person who’s about to become president of the United States.”

To be honest President-elect Trump, through the use of 140 characters, has issued some cringe-worthy tweets.  The left is counting on more of them in the future to use as a cudgel to denounce and demean Trump.

Enter Seth Meyers; former SNL cast member and host of NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers who made no secret of his loathing of Donald Trump in a blistering 7-minute tirade that was long on invective and short of laughs.

“Basically, Donald Trump’s Twitter feed will serve as his version of FDR’s fireside chats. ‘The only thing we have to fear is fear itself—and Mexicans’. Trump is even encouraged by the head of the GOP to bypass traditional media leading him to spread lies and conspiracy theories unfiltered through his Twitter account,” Meyers said.

The novelty of liberals indulging in unguarded moments of anxiety over Trump’s tweets is becoming mind-numbingly tedious.
