SJW Trek: "Resistance"

The Democrat party reminds me quite a lot of the Borg. It is made up of many disparate and sometimes competing factions, assimilated by a liberal hive mind, animating their every move.

I won't say "soulless". You could, though!

Set Phasers To Stun

I was at the tender age of 14 when Star Trek premiered on NBC in 1966. How time has flown.

I have always been fascinated with sci-fi.  I had to beg my dad to let me watch shows like The Outer Limits, Night Gallery and Alfred Hitchcock Presents.  He was quick to say that sci-fi was for nuts.

Finally, after endless pleading, my father relented and I got to watch the series that told the story of Space:  the final frontier.  I reveled in the voyages of the Starship Enterprise and its five-year mission to explore strange new worlds and boldly go where no man had gone before.  For the record:  I was never a “Trekkie”; just loved the escapism.  Who could have known the cultural impact the television series would have.

The first Star Trek series aired in 4×3 aspect television ratio, like the rest of the shows of that era.  Fifty years later, on the very day that Star Trek first aired, September 8th, BBC America will present the entire digitally remastered Season 1 and Season 2 episodes through September 11th.

I plan to binge-watch like a mad woman for those four days only taking a break to watch my beloved Alabama Crimson Tide lay a whooping on the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers.  I’ll be recording the episodes so I won’t miss a thing.

“Dammit Jim, I’m a Star Trek fan, not a blogger” will be my refrain during that time.

Flowing Curves Bonus: Star Trek Edition

Because, sometimes, one Monday "Curves" post is just not enough.  Why Star Trek? Because Curmudgeon forbid it before she left town.  That should be justification enough.
Well, this is not the way I remember these pics.  Proof!  Have you been messing with my Star Trek archives?

What the...?

This isn't even Star Trek.  And Bernie doesn't have any 'curves.'  What's going on?

Oh, now that's just not right.  Making fun of Grace Lee Whitney is NOT COOL!

I'm strangely OK with this one...  I look pretty fly as a Ferengi.  This is just going to get me in trouble with Gruntessa, though.  I can see that right now...

Marina Sirtis looks pretty good here.  I'm having trouble determining whether you altered this one at all, Proof.  And if you did, I'm having trouble objecting!

Farewell And Godspeed Mr. Spock

To say I am a Star Trek fan would be an understatement.  Don’t get me wrong, I don’t fit the Trekkie mold, but I’ve seen every Star Trek movie ever made and sometimes I will binge watch Star Trek The Next Generation on a rainy, gloomy Saturday afternoon.

We learned that Leonard Nimoy, the star singularly identified as Mr. Spock, died today at his home in Bel Air of end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.  He was 83.  You can read his obit in The New York Times.

The actor first announced that he was suffering from the illness last year. "I quit smoking 30 yrs ago,” Nimoy tweeted at the time.  “Not soon enough.”

"Smokers, please understand," he continued, "If you quit after you're diagnosed with lung damage it's too late."

Is it too much to hope for a Genesis Wave to bring back our friend?  May he live long and prosper within our souls.

I have been and always shall be your fan.

And my favorite tweet:

Flowing Curves Of Beauty

I'm borrowing the headline from my friend Curmudgeon, who has been on vacation and foolishly left me the keys to the liquor cabinet, er, blog! I'm cross posting what is a tongue-in-cheek take off of what she's been posting on Monday mornings. I'm merely using a slightly different source for my pictures this week, than she.

That'll teach her to take off more than a week! Heh.
