An Ounce Of Pretension Is Worth A Pound Of Manure

Well, well, well.  The news reader Ad Week featured on its cover and rather zealously labeled “news anchor of the year” is mulling over “her future” in the news racket.

Megyn Kelly told the publication in a recent interview, “I'm seriously considering my future and I do feel very grateful that I have a spot at Fox News. I really have respect for the Murdochs. I haven't known them very well but I've come to know them and so far I like everything I've seen. So the thought of working for them is very alluring. But I have to figure this one out and give it all the consideration it deserves because I've got these three little people with me who I really love and want to see as well. This is a big one for me and I don't want to screw it up.”

Reports of “MeAgain” Kelly jumping ship are littering the Internet.  One network “is doing all they can to try and snatch” her away from Fox News.  CNN Worldwide president Jeff Zucker is said to be “moving the Himalayan Mountains to get her, but they are tripped up on money. He simply can't pay her the $20 million a year Fox has on the table,' according to an insider.

Sources who spoke with the Drudge Report said that Kelly is “despised” by the other on-air talent at the network who’ve described how things have only gotten worse since the release of her new book.  “Settle for More” is expected to end the holidays under 500,000 total copies sold.

If the star of The Kelly File does enter into a contract with CNN she will join former Fox News personalities Alisyn Camerota, Bob Beckel and Mary Katharine Ham, who all moved to CNN.  Beckel was always profoundly asinine.  Camerota, in keeping with the absurd theories so often promulgated at that network foisted a ridiculous notion that Americans should wear hijabs to show solidarity with Muslim women who fear being attacked.  Her suggestion came on the heels of the ISIS-inspired radical Islamic Ohio State University student who rammed his car into a group of people then got out and began slashing at passersby with a knife.

I say if “MeAgain” wants to join the headcases at CNN then Fox should let her go on her merry way.  It would greatly amuse Americans who’ve felt alienated by her if Fox did not renew her contract and she headed to the flailing cable news network for far less than the $20 million she is seeking.

Rupert Murdoch, who owns Fox, told The Wall Street Journal “We have a deep bench of talent, many of whom would give their right arm for her spot.”

I have one piece of advice that “MeAgain” may find useful.  It’s gleaned from one of my all-time favorite movies “Steel Magnolias”:  Pretty isn’t everything.

UPDATE:  Welcome Bad Blue readers.

"Go Home, Newt, You're Drunk!"

I really wasn't going to comment on this, but I've seen a flurry of opinions about Newt's "slapdown" of Megyn Kelly, or how "hypocritical" she was to have, on at least one occasion, posed alluringly and then obsess over Trump's alleged sexual peccadilloes.

Give me a break! For the record, I have been a long time fan and defender of Newt. I admired his Contract with America, I defended him over the gross distortions of allegations against him supposedly handing his ex-wife divorce papers on her hospital sick bed, and I would have voted for him for president, if he'd had the fire in the belly required to capture the 2012 nomination. In that 2012 debate when he stood up to the media bias of the questioning, I cheered him for his backbone. His exchange with Megyn Kelly? Not so much.

In all the years I've followed his career, this moment was IMHO, his least dignified, most disappointing and most embarrassing moment. Newt has a reputation as a historian and a shrewd political strategist. Both true. He typically has the ability to calmly and rationally dissect whatever arguments are presented to him. This occasion... not so much.

The first four and a half minutes are a pretty benign back and forth, but around the 4:48 minute mark, things begin to get heated. Kelly is pressing Newt to admit, in the face of numerous polls, that his candidate may be slipping (alternate universes aside). The supposed slide timed to the allegations surrounding what he may or may not have said to a beauty queen (exacerbated by his dwelling on the story for days), and the crass remarks on the audio leaked from Access Hollywood.

MK: "If Trump is a sexual predator, that is..."

NG (interrupting): :He's not a sexual predator! You can't say that! You cannot defend that statement!"

MK (Crosstalk): "Okay, that's your opinion, I'm not taking a position on it."

Let's stop it there for a second.

Hurry Up And Slide Into Oblivion

I don’t know if what I’ve written here can be called a rant, but I damn sure know that it will infuriate the folks who are supporting Donald Trump.

The consensus seems to be that the American people are so fed up with politicians that they are drawn to the man who professes he is not one.  While it is true that his plain-spoken rhetoric has struck a chord that speaks to that anger, think for a moment about this:  haven’t we already spent seven years with a man in the White House who is clueless, petty, angry, self-centered and narcissistic?

Why the hell are people so willing to support a man who possesses these negative characteristics too?

No, I am not angry that Trump has gone on a nasty tirade against Megyn Kelly.  Trump is acting like a spoiled brat because hard-hitting questions were asked of him at the first GOP presidential debate.  Did Trump really think that running for the most powerful office in the world was going to be easy?

I thought we expected more from the men and women who seek to lead us.  Donald Trump is an imbecile.  His answers lack substance.  They lack clear direction.  In fact, they are not answers at all.

The World’s Most Dangerous Community Organizer has certainly achieved his goal of fundamentally transforming America if voters will so readily cling to a boor like The Donald.

I will not, cannot support a buffoon.  I can’t wait for the one who currently occupies the Oval Office to leave.  I certainly don’t want another one to take his place on January 20, 2017.

I don’t give a damn about his wealth.  Does it bother anyone else that he paid Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi to come to his wedding or that Bill Clinton placed a phone call to him prior to his announcing his candidacy?  Is Trump a wrecking ball?

Trump is playing the victim after the debate and he looks, smells and sounds just like the guy we already have in the White House.  No thanks, Donald.  Your B-movie mobster persona isn’t working for me.  Hurry up and slide into oblivion.

Throwing the Bullshit Flag On Obama’s Illusionist

Simon Rosenberg, founder of the New Democrat Network, appeared on Fox News today along with Marc Thiessen, former speechwriter for George W. Bush.  Megyn Kelly pushed back on Rosenberg’s insistence that the Broccoli Tax is not a tax but a penalty.

The progressive Left is warring with the media who now seem to be questioning why the errand boy sent by grocery clerks is raising taxes on those who can least afford heaping taxes on them in a flailing economy.

Watch it.  You’ll enjoy how Ms. Kelly parries with the cocksure, but completely assinine argument of little Simon the apparatchik.
