We Are All Breitbart Now

Seven years ago, conservatives heard the shocking news that firebrand Andrew Breitbart had died suddenly at the age of 43.  It was a gut punch.

At Breitbart’s funeral Larry Solov, Andrew’s best friend, described him as a “reluctant cultural warrior.”  He added that he “fought to democratize and level the playing field of political discourse and the battlefield was the media and the Hollywood apparatus.”

Andrew said, “I am at war with the mainstream media because they portray themselves as objective observers of reality when they’re no such thing. They’re partisan critical theory hacks.  They have nothing but contempt for the American people.”

He was right.

Melissa MacKenzie at American Spectator wrote:
Why has it taken so long for the Right, and anyone interested in the truth, to see the truth about the Lefty-dominated culture? Why are the purported “Bulwark” guardians of the Right defending the Left and the media, purveyors of falsehoods and slander?
One answer is they hate Donald Trump. Even more, they hate the voters who voted for Donald Trump. In this way, their aims are perfectly aligned with the Left. Destroying Trump and his supporters is a shared goal, truth be damned.
Trump voters are right that a country, by definition, needs enforceable borders. They’re right that the culture is turning against devoutly religious people, especially devout Jews and Christians. They’re right that the media hates them. They’re right that the government is too all-powerful and used at the behest of the Left to harm those who disagree ideologically. They’re right that individual rights are getting lost in the corporate and government consolidated power. They’re right that America has played policeman to a world governed by thankless and effete leadership who refuse to carry their weight and pay their fair share for our protection.
Most of all, they’re right that they are reviled by their supposed public servants and treated like the skunk that disrupted the garden party. They’re right that continuing in this contempt is unsustainable because their interests are worthy and deserve dignity and representation.

Breitbart, Trumpbart Or Pravda?

Source of this graphic is unknown
The jury is still out on the alleged assault of Breitbart politics reporter Michelle Fields by Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski.  I have viewed all the available videos—the ones presented in slow-motion, real-time, heavily edited, unedited—and the only solid conclusion one can arrive at is “something” happened the night of Trump’s victory rally in Jupiter, FL.

I lack the sophisticated equipment needed to forensically analyze the available recordings of the event and I discount out-of-hand whatever I’ve read at sites like National Review that have condemned Fields as an attention-grabbing “citizen journalist.”

So, what am I to believe…the videos or my lying eyes?

With that said there are stories (I used that term deliberately) out there that Fields is a hoaxer.  She’s been linked to an alleged groping by Lt. Col. Allen West and of assault by the NYPD while covering the “Day of Action” during the abominable Occupy Wall Street movement.

Her allegation against West is sketchy.  Her interview with C-SPAN’s Brian Lamb is astonishing.  She portrays the OWS activists as kind and caring.  OWS was nothing if not violent and riven with extremist affiliations such as George Soros.  “Safety tents” were forced to be set up in New York City after a rash of sexual assaults and a growing fear of more sexual predators joining the protests.

I wrote a rather passionate article on March 4, 2012 following the passing of Andrew Breitbart.  “Andrew lived boldly so that we more timid souls would dare to live freely and fully, and fight for the fragile liberty he showed us how to love,” noted a statement released by the family.

The Breitbart site continued his #WAR with his widow’s blessing.  From then until now, the site has been a reference point for so many readers and bloggers, but a schism ever-widening, has opened up in the dextrosphere.

One website on the Left described the current Breitbart site as a “daily cyber-fellator” of Donald Trump.  Crude, but quite true and the avalanche of criticism grows by the hour with the resignations of Fields, Breitbart Editor-at-Large Ben Shapiro and four others.

Andrew Breitbart demanded the truth.  His truth was our truth.  The shameful shilling for Donald Trump must end.  Websites purporting to “report” the news should report it and spare us the editorializing.  If the data they collect in uncovering the truth is unimpeachable then the electorate can make their own decisions without being nudged by lapdogs.

I am joining the growing chorus calling for Breitbart to remove Andrew’s name from the site.
Here is Andrew’s illuminating take on Donald Trump from 2011:

I Humbly Apologize To My Readers

For years I have supported Troopathon, the pro-troop charity which is a part of Move America Forward.  MAF was established 10 years ago.  Many of its staunchest supporters were celebrated personalities like Gary Sinise, Rush Limbaugh, Robert Davi, Donald Rumsfeld, Mark Levin, Dana Loesch, Herman Cain, Allen West, Dr. Ben Carson, John Bolton, Gold Star Mother Debbie Lee and Andrew Breitbart.

I began participating in the annual Troopathon events in 2009.  I became aware of Troopathon after reading a post over at Hot Air.  I became a member of the blogging team known as the "Hot Air Steamers" that participated in the blogger competition to determine which team could secure the greatest number of donations for care packages to our troops.

Today I learned that an examination of fundraising appeals, tax records and other documents shows that Move America Forward has repeatedly misled donors and inflated its charitable accomplishments while funneling the millions of dollars it raised to the men behind the group and their political consulting firms.

To make matters worse “the charity has taken images and stories from other groups and from veterans themselves without permission to use in fundraising appeals.”

“Last year, Move America Forward even solicited funds by claiming a partnership with Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, the largest hospital for wounded service members in the country. No such partnership existed, Defense Department officials say.”

I received an email from Jonathan Salazar who is a contributor to Breitbart News on May 20, 2014 asking if I would support Troopathon VII this year.  He sent me the link to a webpage where donations could be made to send care packages to our troops and a link to the graphics that I could use to promote the event on my blog.

During one telephone conversation with Mr. Salazar on June 12th, he promised that I would have an opportunity to interview Gary Sinise before the event launched on June 26, 2014.  The interview never occurred.  I attributed it to Mr. Sinise’s obviously busy schedule.  I never gave it another thought.

I heavily promoted Troopathon VII with a blog post. One month before the launch I placed a masthead banner at the top of my blog and added two clickable graphics on my sidebar to make donations convenient.

Ed Morrissey of Hot Air writes, “…the issues of having TPE founders and their vendor operations profiting from the transactions for the care packages is disturbing, if true, even if it doesn’t necessarily violate any laws. That’s certainly not what donors and sponsors thought were happening in the Troopathons, and both MAF and TPE owe those donors and sponsors a more detailed explanation than just dismissing the allegations because ProPublica made them."

I am taking the opportunity today to say how sorry I am to anyone who may have been persuaded to donate to Troopathon in 2014 or in previous years at my behest.

It sorrows me that the name of Andrew Breitbart has been sullied.  He loved our troops and was the event’s most devoted supporter.

I hope you can forgive me for being misled and in turn misleading you, my readers.

Kim Baker, who authored the exposé for ProPublica, received this bullshit statement from Danny Gonzalez, Director of Communications for Move America Forward.

Troopathon VII

Nothing brings a serviceman or woman more joy than knowing that someone back home is thankful and thinking of them while they are on deployment.  You can help make the daily routine of our 33,000 troops putting their lives on the line in Afghanistan a little more bearable and thank them for their services all at the same time.

We've heard from countless members of the Armed Forces about items that the military does not provide, are hard to come by and they really appreciate getting. That's why Move America Forward has responded and compiled care packages that contain these goods as a way of saying "thank you" for their sacrifices and courage.

Each care package will include a personal message written by you where you can express your gratitude to our military.

Troopathon is a once-a-year month long campaign.  This year’s Troopathon begins on June 25, 2014 at 1PM Pacific time, 4PM Eastern live from the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library & Museum in Simi Valley, California. The webcast will be available on www.troopathon. If you miss the 8 hour broadcast you can still find videos and information on the website right now, leading up to, and after the show.

As in years past, we are partnering with Breitbart.com. The late great Andrew Breitbart was a constant co-host of the Troopathon and it was a charity and cause close to his heart.

While our Troopathon campaign culminates with the big event on June 25th, it is a month-long drive and we need people to donate today.  Our troops need support now.

Move America Forward is a 501(C)3 so all care package donations are tax deductible.

You can purchase a care package by clicking on the link, make a donation through PayPal or mail your personal check made out to MOVE AMERICA FORWARD at 8795 Folsom Blvd. #103, Sacramento, CA 95826.

You can follow Troopathon on Twitter and Facebook.

UPDATE:  I spoke with Jonathan Salazar, columnist with Breitbart News this afternoon, and I have asked him to coordinate an interview with one of my all-time heroes Gary Sinise.  So stay tuned for my interview with Lt. Dan.

Troopathon 5: Send Care Packages To Our Troops

Ask any serviceman how many milestone events in their lives they have missed due to deployment and without batting an eye, you will hear tales from these dad’s who have missed the birth of a child, countless birthdays and anniversaries, graduations and holiday’s like Thanksgiving or Christmas. Sure, you might detect the wistful look in their eye as they recount the wonder of meeting their child for the first time after a long hard tour away from home, but you will also note the unmistakable tone of satisfaction which comes only from knowing that their sacrifice makes a difference. Many of our Deployed Dads will be celebrating Father’s Day alone this year, and for some it may be their very first Father’s Day as a dad.

They are proud to do their job, making sure their kids and everyone else’s are being watched over and protected by the greatest troops the world has ever known.

Let’s make sure these brave dads are looked after as well.

You can help make the daily routine of our troops serving in Afghanistan and Iraq a little more bearable and thank them for their services all at the same time.

You can order your Father’s Day Care Packages here.

Conservative bloggers like me loved Andrew Breitbart.  What Andrew loved most was our troops.  In his honor, won’t you send a Care Package to our troops?  The campaign goes through July 12th.  Thank you so very much.

The Miserable Little Yellow Bastard

I am neither a wordsmith nor a philosopher, so the words of The Bard seem most appropriate here:  “Cowards die many times before their deaths; the valiant never taste of death but once.”

Tucker Carlson, editor-in-chief of The Daily Caller, won a charity auction to dine with former Weather Underground leaders Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn.  Carlson brought along five friends.  Andrew Breitbart was one of the five who dined with the president’s explosive friends.

It is ironic that this 60’s hater of the U.S. government lacked the ‘nads to say to Breitbart’s face, while he sat at the dinner table, what he said in the video embedded below.

It is outrageous, yes, but Andrew’s many friends believe that he would have simply laughed at the miserable little yellow bastard.

Vet The Prez

In the wake of his untimely death, the outpouring of support for Andrew Breitbart’s valiant battle against the Democrat media complex has burgeoned into a #IAmAndrewBreitbart campaign on Twitter.  His last spoken word on the “Hating Breitbart” video was “War”.  That too, is on Twitter at #War.  You can even create a Twibbon background for your Twitter page at http://twb.ly/yBI1At.

Breitbart left us far too soon, but he promised to #VetThePrez because the mainstream media failed to do its job in 2008.  He was the tip of the spear.

I honor Breitbart today by changing the masthead of this blog.  It will remain so to signify that you and I are an Army of Breitbarts that he recruited in his quest to destroy the Democrat media complex.

I chose the image of King Leonidas from the movie “300” because he stands as the epitome of bravery against overwhelming odds. Both ancient and modern writers have used the Battle of Thermopylae as an example of the power of a patriotic army defending native soil.

Breitbart is dead.  Long live Breitbart.

Breitbart Is Here And In The Heart Of Every Freedom-Loving American

On Thursday morning, I was laying down to take a power nap before getting ready for work when the news anchor on TV announced that Andrew Breitbart had died.

I rose up in shock certain that my ears were playing tricks on me.  I continued to listen to the news alert waiting for confirmation that I was mistaken.  That confirmation never came.

I have not written about Andrew Breitbart until now because I was dealing with the void I felt learning of his untimely death.

A statement released by the family said, “Andrew lived boldly so that we more timid souls would dare to live freely and fully, and fight for the fragile liberty he showed us how to love.”

Bill Whittle, of PJTV, urged in his tribute to his friend, “We’ve both got a lot of work to do, you and I, now that Andrew is gone.  Hey, here’s an idea for a going-away present; why not give Andy a country worth dying for?”

Last year, I gave up blogging and closed down a site from which I blogged.  I was in very bad health and cynical about politics.  I had become a timid soul.  I had blogged there for several years hoping to make a difference.  My health and my cynicism affected my decision.  Admittedly, it was a mistake.  I regret having taken down the site.  After a short time, I decided to rejoin the fray at this site.

I have continued to experience bouts of ill-health and the cynicism returned briefly, but I learned my lesson.  I will no longer be a timid soul.

Andrew Breitbart had health problems, but he never stopped fighting.  He boldly insisted, “My goal is to destroy the Democrat media complex.”

William F. Buckley, a luminary of American conservatism for decades before his death in 2008, once said, “The best defense against usurpatory government is an assertive citizenry.”

Andrew Breitbart showed us how to be that assertive citizenry.  We are all Breitbarts now.  He demanded the truth.  His truth was our truth.  We must never cower in silence.

IOwnTheWorld has launched a “Breitbart Is Here” campaign to produce bumper stickers and T-shirts with proceeds going to the Breitbart children.  There’s also a gravatar that BigFurHat, the creator of the graphics, welcomes you to steal to place on your website adding, “I smell a prairie fire.  Some biggies have emailed me and are of the opinion that Breitbart, in death, has more impact than most in life.”

Breitbart is here and in the heart of every freedom-loving American.
