Dave Weigel noted at The
Washington Post, “…outside of the DNC, progressive writers and organizers
have begun to ring alarms about an Ellison defeat. On Friday morning, a number
of groups that had endorsed Ellison, including MoveOn.org, 350 Action and the
Progressive Change Campaign Committee, asked DNC members “to be heroes” and
back the Congressman’s campaign. If Keith Ellison is DNC Chair, we can hit the
ground running—and because of the pre-existing trust that exists between Keith
and the grassroots, every state party would have a head start harnessing the
power of the resistance.”
Officially endorsed by Chuck Schumer, Elizabeth Warren
and Bernie Sanders, Ellison defended Louis Farrakhan of the Nation of Islam
when he was a student at the University of Minnesota Law School.
When a tape surfaced
of Ellison speaking to supporters in 2010 in which he said, “The United States
foreign policy in the Middle East is governed by what is good or bad through a
country of seven million people. A
region of 350 million all turns on a country of seven million. Does that make
sense? Is that logic? Right? When the Americans who trace their roots back to
those 350 million get involved, everything changes. Can I say that again?” the Anti-Defamation League issued a statement in response saying
Ellison’s comments were disqualifying and he was promoting anti-Semetic stereotypes
which stood in contrast with the DNC position that a strong and secure Israel
is vital to the interests of the United States.
The Muslim fabulist
came under fire in 2007 when he declared
the Bush Administration’s actions to the actions of the Nazis in 1933. He believed President Bush had violated
Americans’ civil liberties after the terrorist attacks of 9/11.
During
the 2006 election, Ellison was widely
criticized for receiving donations from The Council on American
Islamic Relations (CAIR) which has ties to the terrorist group Hamas.
Ellison
is pushing
for impeachment proceedings against President Trump.
Longtime
Democrat loyalist, Alan Dershowitz is vehemently opposed to Ellison becoming
the DNC Chair. Dershowitz wrote:
“There has been powerful push from the hard-left of the Democratic Party, led by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), to elect Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN.) chairman. If he is elected, I will quit the party after 60 years of loyal association and voting.”
“My loyalty to my country and my principles and my heritage exceeds any loyalty to my party. I will urge other like-minded people—centrist liberals—to follow my lead and quit the Democratic Party if Ellison is elected chairman. We will not be leaving the Democratic Party we have long supported. The Democratic Party will be leaving us!”
When you’ve lost Dershowitz it’s pretty much over. Democrats are watching a slow motion disaster
unfold before their very eyes.
By the time The World’s Most Dangerous Community Organizer left
office, not only did he have to surrender the White House to Donald Trump, he
had presided over the national collapse of his party. During his two terms as
president his Party lost a net 13 Senate seats, 63 House seats, 9 governorships
and more than 1,000 state and local elected positions leaving Democrats in the
worst shape in 100 years. Hillary won
only 486 of the country’s 3113 counties.
Who will win? Stay tuned…
