Connecticut School Shooting: A Nation Mourns

When the news broke Friday morning about a young man many say was a brilliant student but remote, decided to go on a rampage killing twenty innocent children, the nation stood in shock and disbelief.

Connecticut’s Governor Dan Malloy rightly described the horror when he said, “Evil visited this community today.”

Twenty-eight people, including 20 schoolchildren, were killed in the shooting rampage at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.

I chose to superimpose an image of Christ the Lord into the highly charged photograph of two children standing at the wood’s edge near the Sandy Hook Elementary School.

I wanted my readers to feel a sense of peace knowing that the Christchild, whose birth we celebrate in a few days is ever-near to those in times of utter despair.  It was He who said, “Suffer the little children to come unto Me.”

It is my way of showing my support for the people of Newtown.  In this, your darkest hour, America is reaching out to the families and friends of those who were killed or injured.

  2. @Robert Janicki,

I am touched by your kind words.

All we can do is cry with the people of Newtown and wrap our arms around them and pray for and with them.

May you have the merriest of Christmases as well.

    God bless us everyone!
