Pathetic, Vile Adam Schiff: “Your Head Will Be On A Pike”

As the closing arguments for Democrat House impeachment managers mercifully came to a close, Lead Manager Adam Schiff, invoked a report from CBS News that a Trump confidant had warned, “Vote against the President and your head will be on a pike.”

After that remark, the generally respectful mood in the Senate immediately changed. Republicans across their side of the chamber groaned, gasped and said, “That's not true.” One key moderate Republican, Sen. Susan Collins of Maine, looked directly at Schiff, shook her head and said, “Not true."

“Not only have I never heard the ‘head on the pike’ line," Collins said in a statement, "but also I know of no Republican senator who has been threatened in any way by anyone in the administration.”

She had been listening intently to Schiff's presentation and writing down some of his points. When he made the “pike” comment, she looked directly at Schiff and slowly and repeatedly shook her head back and forth. When he finished his speech and the trial adjourned, Sens. John Cornyn (R-TX) and John Barrasso (R-WY) made a beeline for her seat. Collins again shook her head and said, “No.”

Sen. James Lankford (R-OK), told reporters the CBS report is "completely, totally false."

“None of us have been told that,” he added. "That's insulting and demeaning to everyone to say that we somehow live in fear and that the President has threatened all of us.''

Sen. Mike Braun (R-IN), asked about the remark, added, "I could hear the gasps." 

Some Democrats also distanced themselves from the House Intelligence Committee chairman. Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV), who has not said if he will vote to acquit or convict the President, added that he also believed Schiff crossed the line. 

"I don't know why people do that," Manchin added. "That could have been left out that's for sure."

Good Rand, Maverick Rand

The senator from Kentucky is a renegade.  Countless times Rand Paul has thrown a monkey wrench into the gears of the Senate with his parliamentary mischief of filibusters, talk-a-thons, placing holds on nominations and objections to unanimous consents.

My chief complaint with Paul stems from the time he said he could not in good conscience vote to confirm Mike Pompeo as Secretary of State.  “I could not support appointing him as CIA Director in 2017, and for the same reasons, I will oppose his nomination to be our chief diplomat now.”

In a series of tweets, Paul revealed he had spoken repeatedly with the President and Pompeo noting, “President Trump believes that Iraq was a mistake, that regime change has destabilized the region and that we must end our involvement with Afghanistan.”

He continued, “Having received assurances from President Trump and Director Pompeo that he agrees with the President on these important issues, I have decided to support his nomination to be our next Secretary of State.”

Most recently, Paul criticized the President’s decision to kill IRGC madman Qassem Soleimani saying, “You’d have to be brain-dead to believe that we tear up the [JCPOA] agreement, we put an embargo on you and we kill your major general, and they’re just going to crawl back to the table and say, ‘What do you want, America?'”

If Jekyll and Hyde had a problem separating his good self from his bad impulses, good Rand Paul stepped forward yesterday to say he will force a vote on subpoenaing Hunter Biden and the whistleblower if Democrats insist on hearing from senior Trump Administration officials John Bolton and Mick Mulvaney.  He explained, “If you vote against Hunter Biden, you’re voting to lose your election, basically.  If you don’t want to vote and you think you’re going to have to vote against Hunter Biden, you should just vote against witnesses, period.”

He was warning Murkowski (R-AK), Romney (R-UT) and Collins (R-ME) they would be torpedoing their re-election chances by crossing party lines making Schmuck Schumer’s job of winning the Senate for Democrats in 2020 easier and guaranteeing an impeachment that will never end.

Billy Goat Brain, Mockingbird Mouth

Southerners like Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) would much rather paint a verbal picture than get straight to the point. Such was not the case last Friday while appearing on Fox News.

Ed Henry was interviewing the senator asking how he felt about remarks made by Nancy Pelosi regarding the confirmation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh.  He noted Kennedy had said Congress had hit rock bottom and asked if he, perhaps, was referring to Pelosi when she said, “I guess there’s a similarity that people have with the people that they respect. Crazy about Putin, in love with Kim Jong Un, [Trump] thinks Kavanaugh is an upstanding person. Well, you know what, he doesn’t even know what he’s talking about.”

Kennedy replied, “I probably shouldn’t say this, but I’m going to be frank.  Billy goat brain, mockingbird mouth.”  That’s a much more entertaining and expressive way of saying Pelosi is cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs.

Mark Penn, former top political adviser to Bill Clinton, penned an opinion piece at The Hill declaring the radicalized Left is setting the Democrat Party back and may well, if left unchecked, “cement a Republican majority in Washington for the next 20 years.” (From your lips to God’s ears, Mr. Penn.)

“Trump’s victory gave the left an opportunity to radicalize the Democratic Party. The idea was simple: Oppose everything with all you’ve got. Energize, protest, flip on the switches of identity politics, use the politics of personal destruction, enlist the presidential hopefuls, go to the courts, spur on special prosecutors, flood social media. For a while, this movement gave energy to a beaten lackluster party.”

“But now its flaws are coming home to roost. Screaming at senators in elevators while complaining about judicial temperament doesn’t add up. Opposing every issue for every reason begins to look shrill and fake after a while. Stirring people up leads to unpredictable excesses. Treating half the country as pariahs only increases their anger.”

“The resistance is in full boomerang mode now. But the fired-up movement appears to have no “off” switch.”

“Only 27% of the country is liberal. Less than 10% can be classified as left. This is a moderate country that believes its politicians need to get things done. Polls show that 8-n-10 voters want politicians who will work to find compromises.”

“An upset is now possible if Democrats fail to turn away from the resistance and its extreme tactics. Americans want action on our most pressing problems. They are not going to vote for the party whose message is impeachments and investigations, especially during an economic resurgence.”

For Democrats the Supreme Court is an institution dedicated to the advancement of elite liberal victories in the culture wars. Kavanaugh’s confirmation slammed the courthouse doors on their fever dream.

Last Saturday Susan Collins, a woman whom I’ve criticized frequently, became a heroine when she delivered the most profound line on the floor of the Senate prior voting to confirm Kavanaugh, “We must always remember that it is when passions are most inflamed that fairness is most in jeopardy.”

Collins closed with, “It is a case of people bearing ill will towards those who disagree with them.  In our intense focus on our differences, we have forgotten the common values that bind us together as Americans.”

Unfortunately, a younger generation of Americans knows little about those values and are slipping away.
