"Don't Let Anyone Tell You She Hasn't Had Work Done", or Something Like That!

Who can forget the stirring words of Michelle Obama in February 2008 telling us that for the first time in her adult life, she was finally proud of her country? Apparently, that would be...Michelle Obama! Michelle got up at the Democrat convention in Philadelphia and figuratively* wagged her finger at us (something she learned from her husband, no doubt), and told us "Don't ever let anyone tell you America isn't great", despite the fact that it's only gotten worse over the last eight years.

But, I guess if you "wake up every morning in a house built by slaves", have your servants cook and clean for you and cater to your every desire, if you can travel the world on multi-million dollar vacations, spend as much as you like on your wardrobe and have chefs flown in at the expense of the peons taxpayers to satisfy your every culinary whim, then I guess you'd think that your America was pretty great. For the rest of America?

Let them eat cake! 


* I figured I should add that, since I couldn't actually stomach watching her speech in its entirety.

Jimmy Carter's Cardigan

Remember the seventies? Remember the energy crisis of the seventies, with its long gas lines and high prices? 

Remember the picture of Carter, sitting in the Oval Office in a cardigan sweater, telling us to turn down our thermostats to conserve energy?

Carter claimed to the press that he was saving energy by having solar panels installed on the roof of the White House to heat hot water. "It would not generate enough hot water to run the dishwasher in the staff mess," a White House staffperson says. "It was a fiasco. The staff mess had to go out and buy new equipment to keep the water hot enough. That blew any savings." Carter did not manage to broker an adequate energy policy. He tried to promote conservation by example, turning down the thermostats at the White House and in other government buildings, wearing cardigan sweaters, and installing solar panels and a woodstove at the White House. He also deregulated energy prices, launched a program to develop synthetic fuels, and successfully legislated fuel-efficiency standards. But in an era of soaring oil prices and long lines at the gas pumps, it did not add up to a policy.

I thought about our friend Jimmah today, when I heard yet another variation of "I'll start getting serious about global warming, just as soon as its proponents do". You have to hand it to Carter, that at least he made a show of turning down the thermostat* and wearing the Charlie Brown sweater, and installing the not-ready-for-primetime solar panels** on the White House roof.

In an age when public shame is practically unheard of, except for when you violate political correctness, there seem to be no excesses to which the global warmists will go, oblivious to the enormity of their own carbon footprints. Al Gore flies all over the world in a private jet, infamously having his limo drivers keeping the motors running in his limos while he delivers his phoney baloney message on global warming, so that he doesn't experience even any momentary discomfort between his plane and the air conditioned lecture halls.

Remember that Live Earth concert recently? They had to fly bands, and even the audience to Antarctica, just so that they could say they covered all seven continents. How large a carbon footprint did that require? For a mere symbolic gesture. I'm sure the penguins appreciated it! If the threat of catastrophe caused by man made global warming were real, don't you think that even one of these Apostles of Apocalypse might alter his life style accordingly?

Obama takes a gas guzzling, carbon spewing 747 from Andrews AFB to the swampland of Florida, so that he can address literally dozens of people on the perils of global warming. Haven't these people ever heard of Skype? Conference calls?? Go to meeting???

All of the scare mongering of the seventies and eighties that foretold the oceans dying, oceans rising, millions starving, ice caps melting, and after all the increases in manufacturing and farming and population increase over the last half century, the temperature needle barely wavered. Ted Danson was very specific. He said we only had ten years to save the oceans...about forty years ago now. How'd that work out for us, Ted? And the scientists whose funding is directed to locate global warming, find it only with the help of forged and faked data.

The extent that global warming did not occur forced its ardent disciples to try to change the name of the movement. Same doom and gloom, but now any "change" in the climate indicates the need for a Marxist curtailment of all capitalistic human activity. Record heat? Global warming, er, "climate change"! Record cold? Record snowfall? "Climate change"!

I guess the closest nod to some sort of show of modest travel by this president, is when he loads his Canadian built, campaign bus on a plane, along with his staff, Secret service and multiple car entourage and flies them to some location to where he can roll out the bus and show the peasants his humble roots. Because nothing says 'I'm saving energy' like flying your bus to meet you at a campaign stop.

Since Obama is taking the mantle of "Worst President Ever" from Jimmy Carter, couldn't he get the cardigan to go with it?

*As opposed to Barack Obama, who reportedly kicks up the thermostat somewhere between "toasty" and "parboiled"!

**As I have said elsewhere., I'm not opposed to solar energy where it is feasible.  My own solar panels generate more energy than I use, nearly every single day.

What's the word for American citizens who undermine the diplomatic efforts of the American president by communicating directly with a foreign government? 

"Traitors," according to the New York Daily News—referring to the 47 Republican senators who signed a letter to the Iranian government with the goal of derailing sensitive and potentially historic nuclear negotiations.

I've been hearing this "47 traitors" horse hockey being tossed about for too long now. What's the word for American citizens who undermine the diplomatic efforts of the American president by communicating directly with a foreign government? Traitors?? Let me take you on a little trip down memory lane, and then you tell me!

According to wikipedia:

In the fall of 2002, (Baghdad Jim) McDermott and fellow Representatives David Bonior of Michigan, Nick Rahall of West Virginia and Mike Thompson of California visited Iraq; in Baghdad they met with members of parliament and the Iraqi Foreign Minister...

Wow! George Bush is president in 2002. (He was a Republican in case that small detail slipped anyone's mind.) Jim McDermott, Democrat, David E. Bonior, Democrat, who served as Democratic whip in the House from 1991 to 2002. Mike Thompson, Democrat. Nick Joe Rahall II, Democrat:

Rahall and another Congressman of Arab descent traveled to Syria and ignored State Department policy by meeting with Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat...

Great! Nicky Joe is a twofer! He was not only trying to "undermine the diplomatic efforts of the American president by communicating directly" with the foreign government of Iraq, but tried to "undermine the diplomatic efforts" of the American State Department by communicating directly with a foreign leader (and part time terrorist), Yasser Arafat.

So these four...traitors(??) didn't just send a letter to Saddam Hussein. What's that they say? When you care enough to send the very best? They traveled to Iraq and met with the Iraqi foreign minister and members of their parliament.

Now, typically foreign policy isn't the purview of the House of Representatives, there probably isn't a lot in the budget for treason (according to good liberals), so where did they get the funding to pay their way to Iraq? Funny you should ask!

Muthanna Al-Hanooti was an official with a Michigan "charity" that offered to pay their way. But, in reality, Saddam Hussein offered Al-Hanooti some 2 million barrels of Iraqi oil in exchange for the charity funding the treasonous (according to liberals) quartet.  Saddam apparently used Iraqi intelligence agents (read: "spooks") to fund the intermediary.

And, as they say in the infomercials, But wait! There's more!!

Remember the Sandinistas? Ronald Reagan was president. (He was a Republican, in case that has slipped anyone's mind). Remember how many Democrats tried to thwart Reagan?

Former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger hammered John Kerry in 1985 for interfering in diplomatic negotiations with Nicaragua’s Marxist government as a (Democrat) Massachusetts senator. 

... Kerry and then-Iowa Sen. Tom Harkin (Democrat) visited Nicaragua in 1985 to cut a deal with the Sandinista government, which was close to the former Soviet Union. President Ronald Reagan, however, was already set on overthrowing the Marxist government in Nicaragua by sending aid to a group of Nicaraguan rebels — the contras.

So, Kerry and Harkin were  "trying to "undermine the diplomatic efforts of the American president by communicating directly" with a foreign government".  Which makes them (say it with me, America!)

Traitors.

(By the way, if you really wanted to call Kerry a traitor, there's more than enough material, but that's a story for another day!)

In 1984, Speaker of the House Jim Wright, Democrat (Are you starting to see a pattern here?) sent a letter - SENT A LETTER! - signed by ten Democrats, to  "undermine the diplomatic efforts of the American president by communicating directly" with a foreign government"!

Looking for this reference, I ran across the following from Breitbart News:

Senators John Sparkman (D-AL) and George McGovern (D-SD). The two Senators visited Cuba and met with government actors there in 1975. They said that they did not act on behalf of the United States, so the State Department ignored their activity. 

Senator Teddy Kennedy (D-MA). In 1983, Teddy Kennedy sent emissaries to the Soviets to undermine Ronald Reagan’s foreign policy. According to a memo finally released in 1991 from head of the KGB Victor Chebrikov to then-Soviet leader Yuri Andropov...

...Senator Jay Rockefeller (D-WV). In 2002, Rockefeller told Fox News’ Chris Wallace, “I took a trip by myself in January of 2002 to Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Syria, and I told each of the heads of state that it was my view that George Bush had already made up his mind to go to war against Iraq...

...House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA). In April 2007, as the Bush administration pursued pressure against Syrian dictator Bashar Assad, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi went to visit him.

Traitors, traitors, traitors, traitors, TRAITORS!!!!

Can you say "hypocrisy"? I will bet you a large lunch at a drive in of your choice, that you will not be able to find a liberal, Democrat, no good lying weasel (but I repeat myself) who called any of these Democrats "traitors".

Democrats have been trying to criminalize differences of opinion for years. (Remember the Boland amendment?)  Aside from the Jonathan "I know the entire Democrat base is stupid" Gruber crowd,  this is demagoguery of the worst kind. Well, maybe not the worst kind. Nancy Pelosi bleating that Republicans wanted to defund Homeland Security and leave America defenseless, because they wanted to defund the part of Homeland Security that funded Obama's illegal illegal alien program is petty demagoguery.

Of course, you can find examples at least as far back as Newt Gingrich's speakership, when Newt proposed giving MORE money to school lunches, but funding it through the states, demagogues and their accomplices in the MSM spread the lie that the Republicans wanted to "starve kids", because they wanted to eliminate federal funding for school lunches. More money for school lunches = starving kids, if the feds aren't in charge of the funds.

So, I guess you could say that dishonest, lying Democrats (but, I repeat myself!) accusing Republicans of being traitors for doing no more or no less than the things they themselves do is just more of the same when it comes to demagoguery.

Late To The Punchline

If you’re gullible it’s probably a good idea to look before you leap.  Just ask “Karoli” a contributor to an über liberal website that is littered with brainiacs from the administrations of Bubba and Barry.

It all began with a “plagiarized interview” from an openly satirical site The National Report.  A bogus website, KCTV7, heisted text from The National Report that claimed Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) had called for unaccompanied Central American children to be sent to indoctrination camps to become Americanized in an interview with Minnesota’s Twin Cities News talk radio host Jason Lewis.  There was no such article and no such interview that featured the Congresswoman.

Scott Kaufman sounded the alarm suggesting the “crazy racist Bachmann story [was] so believable liberal websites” fell for the parody.  The sites were forced to update the story admitting they were bamboozled.

Everyone knows that Bachmann is a huge target of the Left and any chance they get to slam her is an opportunity they will lick their chops to jump at even if they are made to look like blithering idiots.  According to a Memeorandum thread there were at least three liberal websites that took the bait hook, line and sinker.

Karoli’s response to the kerfuffle she created:

A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Divorce Court

Blubbery gasbag Michael Moore entered the Antrim County Circuit Courthouse today to finalize his divorce from the woman to whom he had been married 22 years.  (Thankfully they did not spawn any little Moores.)

The Detroit News reported that in legal pleadings Mikey blamed his wife for the long-running criticism of his mega hypocrisy pretending to defend the poor while owning a mansion in Torch Lake worth $2 million.  This, of course, was before the world learned today of the nine, count ‘em, nine homes they own.

According to court documents the couple owned nine properties in Michigan and New York, including a Manhattan condo.

In a remarkable manifestation of supreme pettiness, the tub ‘o shit demanded from his quilting enthusiast wife a “list, with photographs, of all quilts in your possession whether purchased,  gifted, loaned or produced by you.” 

His common-man persona has been an elephantine lie and now the world knows it.

Madam Jesse

The Rev. Jesse Jackson unleashed a storm of protest in 1984 when he referred to Jews as “Hymies” and to New York City as “Hymietown.”

In 2001, the “moral and spiritual” adviser to Billy Jeff Clinton during the Lewinsky scandal, was forced to admit that he had maintained a prolonged extramarital affair that resulted in a “love child”

In 2007, Jackson publicly rebuked then-candidate Barack Obama for not taking a stronger position in response to the Jena 6 case. Many felt he went too far when he suggested Obama was “acting like he’s white.”

An open mic was not Jackson’s friend during the 2008 presidential campaign when he was caught muttering that he’d like to “cut his [Obama’s] nuts off” for “talking down to black people.” Despite numerous attempts to walk back his statement, Jackson was left off the DNC convention roster for the first time in decades.

A discrimination complaint was filed with Chicago’s Commission on Human Rights against Jackson and Rainbow PUSH in early 2010 by Tommy R. Bennett, 55, an openly gay Chicago man—a claim which Jackson and Rainbow/PUSH has vehemently denied.

“In the complaint, Bennett describes what he calls ‘demeaning and demoralizing tasks’ that he was asked to perform as part of his duties for PUSH—everything from escorting women to and from Jackson’s hotel room and cleaning up after sexual intercourse, to fetching erectile dysfunction pills for Jackson and, in one instance, being asked to apply ointment to a rash on Jackson’s inner thigh. He was asked to do these things, he says, because of his gender and his sexual orientation.”

In an announcement sent out Tuesday, December 24th, the Reverend compared Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson’s recent comments about African-Americans, gay people and women to comments made by the driver of Rosa Parks’ bus.

"At least the bus driver, who ordered Rosa Parks to surrender her seat to a white person, was following state law,” he said in the release. “Robertson's statements were uttered freely and openly without cover of the law, within a context of what he seemed to believe was ‘white privilege.’”  

Jackson’s human rights group, the Rainbow PUSH Coalition, has demanded meetings with A&E and with Cracker Barrel regarding the two companies’ treatment of Robertson, who stars in the show as the head of a Louisiana family that makes duck calls. 

Jackson’s group, along with LGBT group GLAAD and the National Organization for Women urged A&E to keep Robertson on an indefinite hiatus from the show, which the network started following Robertson’s comments criticizing homosexuality in an interview with GQ magazine. 

Cracker Barrel removed Duck Dynasty items from its shelves and then put them back Sunday after customers protested, according to a Cracker Barrel news release. 

“We respect all individuals’ right to express their beliefs,” the Tennessee-based company’s release states. “We certainly did not mean to have anyone think different.” 

Jackson Sr. and the leaders of the other groups are demanding a sit-down meeting with Cracker Barrel and A&E in the next couple of days. 

“It is unacceptable that a personality who has been given such a large platform would benefit from racist and anti-gay comments,” the group leaders state in the release.

Clearly, Jackson sees an opportunity to extort money under the table from scared organizations.  It’s the hackneyed, yet successful formula for making money and generating political attention that this race pimp and über hypocrite employs.  He spews bigotry for profit.

Jackson is well past his USE BY DATE.  He should get off the stage before the lights dim.

In our highly polarized society, where more and more of our speech is controlled and sanitized, the ersatz outrage of the Reverend Jackson is just a touch ironic.  It’s a little like a cathouse madam extolling the virtues of abstinence.
