Proof’s In Charge

Last week I asked co-blogger Proof to look after the place while I’m away.  I emailed him to let him know that my best friend would be undergoing yet another surgery.  This time the surgeon will attempt to correct a “curling” of the carotid artery that occurred post-op and restenosis (a recurrence of narrowing of the artery).

Her son, who was seriously injured just before the Memorial Day holiday in a motorcycle accident, asked me to help him take care of his mom during her recovery.  He’s still in a wheelchair two-and-a-half months after his accident. Since he’s like a son to me I could hardly refuse to help him out.

I hope to come back home in about two weeks.  Meanwhile, Proof has the keys to the liquor cabinet so Hillary Clinton can’t drink all my damn vodka.  He promised when he agreed to do me this favor that he would “try not to complain about” my “frequent vacations/absences/benders/rehab visits too publicly.”

So…if the place goes to hell while I’m gone don’t blame me.  If it doesn’t work out, I’ll be accepting résumés for co-bloggers.  Odie? Grunt?

Thanks, Proof.  I owe you big.

You Do Kind Deeds Because It's Who You Are

All too often in life we are met with trying times.  You find yourself praying for a solution in those times.   The conservative blogosphere is filled with loving, caring people who do kind deeds because that’s who they are.

Blogger sister and friend, Always On Watch, finds herself dealing with a “cascade of problems.”  Her husband’s in-home hospital bed requires a new motor, the car she relies on to take hubby and his scooter to doctor appointments needs the brakes and the power steering repaired, a dangerous and potentially deadly problem with her home’s electrical panel box is affecting the water heater; and worst of all, her husband’s medication, which used to cost $24 to refill now is draining her wallet to the tune of $648 due to the infamous “donut hole” which exists in Medicare Part D.

AOW has been dealing with these financial burdens since October 27th.  Essentially, she’s coped as best she can, but she’s reached the end of her rope.  Several years ago, her husband suffered a stroke.  As a result, she is now his caregiver while also working to earn a living as a home school teacher.

God grants us 86,400 seconds a day.  Will you take a few of those precious seconds to leave a comment at her place to encourage her?  If you have a few bucks to spare, would you consider donating to her tip jar?  She will be touched by your compassion.

With Thanksgiving approaching, wouldn’t it be wonderful to lighten the burdens of another?  May God bless you abundantly, love you dearly and watch over you always.

UPDATE:  After waiting most of the day, Always On Watch is reporting good news.  At 7:00 PM she said her husband’s in-home hospital bed has finally been repaired and he is now able to elevate his paralyzed leg in order to reduce the edema (swelling due to the accumulation of fluid) and perhaps lower his blood pressure.

We’re praying for you.  Keep us posted girl.

To Love And Be Loved Is The Greatest Happiness Of Existence

The devastating news that one of our own is losing her fight with cancer exploded across the dextrosphere last November.  I paid tribute to Amusing Bunni as soon as I found out.

I wrote, “Fate ordains that friends must part.  They don’t teach you what to say to a friend who’s dying.  I will never forget you.  May God place His Hand upon your shoulder and comfort you in the days and weeks to come.”

In a post from this past Friday, Bunni declared her great appreciation for the prayers and well-wishes that were sent her way, most especially “the wonderful emails from PayPal saying ‘a donation has been made.’”

Bunni continues, “Sadly, though, I haven't been getting any of those in quite a while.  You know I don't like to ‘beg’, and never ask you to ‘hit the tip jar’ and all that other stuff.  I just have my medical donation button at the top right of the Blog, and I hope and pray that you can find some extra money to help me out when you can.  Well, I'm asking again now because after over 4 months without any money coming in at all, things are REALLY tight around here.  Unlike some people, I am not married, so I can't depend on anyone else's income.  If you are married and have a supportive partner, you are TRULY BLESSED by God and go and give them a kiss & a hug RIGHT NOW.”

I find this to be unacceptable.

Longtime friend, Barking Spider, left jolly old England to visit Bunni for two weeks.  From his report, these kindred spirits had a blast.  Most importantly though, Spidey is urging everyone who can to toss a few dead presidents in Bunni’s PayPal account for her mounting medical bills.

Times are hard for everyone.  If ten folks could donate $10, Bunni would have $100.  If just 50 gave $10…well, you know where the math is going.

Please consider assisting this gentle, good woman.  She lives alone.  She’s bound to be scared.  It would mean so much to her to know that we continue to support her.

She said she needs hugs.  If you can’t afford a few bucks to help one of God’s children, at least visit her site and leave a message of hope and encouragement.

UPDATE:  I have alerted Bunni that any link to PayPal from another site gives an error message.  So, if you're planning to donate to her medical bills please go to her blog and click on the link located at the top of her sidebar.

They Don’t Teach You What To Say To A Friend Who’s Dying

If we are lucky, we make friends across the blogosphere.  Years ago, I was the proprietor of the blog No Sheeples Here.  It was there that I “met” Amusing Bunni.

Bunni was a regular commenter there.  She’d pop in and give encouragement, offer kudos and generally wish cheery thoughts of the day.  She always brought joy to your life.

Bunni was always the kind of person who left footprints on your heart.  For those of us who were the recipients of the “little flowers” she left for us, we are able to walk forever in a beautiful garden of blooms enveloped in delightful scents.

I just learned that Bunni has fifth stage inoperable liver cancer.  She has been told by her doctors that nothing can be done and has been given three to six months to live.

This news is devastating, heart-wrenching.

I will not cry because her life on this earth is coming to a close.  I will smile that our friendship happened in the first place.

The blogosphere has rallied around Bunni to help defray her medical expenses.  It’s the least we can do for such a giving, caring person.

A PayPal account has been established to help Bunni.  Please, whatever you can give will be greatly appreciated.

As we approach Thanksgiving, it is a time when we take stock of all the things we are thankful for.

Those of us who know Bunni are thankful for her friendship and her many kindnesses.  The least we can do is show her that we love her back.  Won’t you please help Bunni now in her time of need?

If times are hard for you right now, please consider visiting her site and letting her know that she is in your thoughts and prayers.  You will be blessed for having done so.

Hugs and kisses, Bunni.  Fate ordains that friends must part.  They don’t teach you what to say to a friend who’s dying.  I will never forget you.  May God place His Hand upon your shoulder and comfort you in the days and weeks to come.
