The 2016 Fabulous 50 Blog Award Winners

Doug Ross announced the 2016 Fabulous 50 Blog Award winners on New Year’s Day.

These awards recognize a variety of blogs and websites operating in the conservative blogosphere, all of which have worked tirelessly to promote conservatism, free market capitalism, fiscal sanity, the sovereignty of the individual, and otherwise protect America from the “cockroach-like Statistssome in very unique ways.”

I am as proud as a peacock to say I am friends with two of this year’s winners.

The Pirate’s Cove was awarded the Best Climate Blog, but the “Admiral” is a well-rounded citizen journalist who unwaveringly links to this blog in his weekly feature “Sorta Blogless Sunday Pinup”.  He was infinitely helpful in getting our “Flowing Curves of Beauty” feature off the ground.  I am deeply grateful to William Teach for his support over the years.

The Best Illustrated Satire blog award was bestowed on my dear friend and SEC sister Diogenes who is the proprietor of Diogenes’ Middle Finger.  She describes herself as someone who “casually shrugs off a promising career as a technical innovator and major driving force in the recording industry to write about politics.”

As a bit of a Photoshop™ enthusiast myself, I appreciate the snarkiness Diogenes will add to a graphic and then hang it proudly on the walls of her blog.  Some of them are pure comedy gold.

Congratulations to all the winners but a big ol’ hug goes to these two wonderful bloggers for being recognized for their labor of love day in and day out.  Thanks for standing guard over liberty.

One Week Remains To Nominate Your Favorite Blogs For The Third Annual Paul Revere Award

This past Monday I announced The Third Annual Paul Revere Awards for smaller conservative blogs which are all too often overlooked.  For the past two years I have selected the winners.  This time around I decided to open the award up to nominations from my readers.

The nomination process began slowly but picked up late in the week with Woodsterman doing yeoman’s work suggesting multiple interesting sites for the award.

The nomination period will close next Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 12:00 PM EDT.

Click on this link to learn more about the award.  Meanwhile, below is the list of nominees so far.  If you don’t see your favorite blog listed, you can add it in the comments section below.

Nominations For The Third Annual Paul Revere Award

Three years ago I began a project to honor some of my favorite bloggers with an award.

The brave and resolute men and women behind those blogs hold down jobs and raise their families or selflessly provide care for loved ones.  Unfortunately, they are often overlooked.  They possess an unwavering dedication to inform and warn their readers.

They have the keen zest of the citizen whose patriotism is of the lusty type that causes them to take an active part in politics.  They add humor and common sense and they deserve to be recognized.

I chose Paul Revere as the icon for the award because he was an American patriot whose legendary “Midnight Ride” to warn the colonists of Massachusetts before the historic battles at Lexington and Concord played a vital role in America’s struggle to gain independence from Britain.

Paul Revere was not born to wealth—he was an ordinary man who lived an extraordinary life. Revere was a patriot, a businessman, an involved citizen, and a popular and well-respected member of his community.

An obituary in the Boston Intelligence solemnly noted, "Seldom has the tomb closed upon a life so honorable and useful."

In years past, I selected the winners.  This year I’ve decided to open the award up to nominations.  The nomination period will begin today and close on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 12:00 PM EDT.

Please nominate the blog(s) you would like to see win the Third Annual Paul Revere Award in the comments section below.  Just provide a link to the blog(s) you’d like to nominate and I will take it from there.

Each winner will receive a personalized award in the form of a badge which they can place on their website if they so choose.

Announcing A Wonderful Addition To Political Clown Parade

Today, I made a decision of which I am very proud.  Longtime blogger buddy Proof, the proprietor of Proof Positive, has graciously consented to become a co-blogger here at Political Clown Parade.

Proof extols the wisdom of Mark Twain who used satire to skewer society’s foibles.  Proof possesses a roguish wit as evidenced by his profile.

"Proof is a brilliant, ne’er-do-well, billionaire playboy never seen in the same room at the same time as Batman."  He is so mischievous that he suggests ways to contact him include shining a searchlight into the sky with a silhouette of Mark Twain.

Proof’s humor and compassion, more than anything, makes it easy to call him a friend.

We, he and I, are fellow travelers who choose to stand guard over liberty.  I look forward to his posts becoming a part of this blog.  He will be able to add fresh content which is something my readers deserve.

Please welcome Proof with open arms and an open heart.  I just know you’ll love his work.  He thinks I’m adopting him.  I guess maybe I am.

2013 PUK Awards: Cage Match 3 UPDATED

Last year I was honored to be named one of the Top Ten 2012 PUK Award winners.

This year one of my entries survived the Round Two selections for the Cage Matches that will determine the ultimate winner of the highly prized PUK Award for 2013 for conservative agitprop.

The competition, as always, is stiff.  Both of The Looking Spoon’s entries have survived to fight another day and Cage Match 1 and 2.

Tonight, in Cage Match 3, BigFurHat has pitted my entry against B. Keyser’s viral hit of Obama riding a horsey with Vladimir Putin.

Life, as they say, has very little even ground.  I hope I can count on you to help my entry make a respectable showing against the extremely popular chop by B. Keyser.  I don’t expect to win, but I would really love it if my work could be a contender in this Cage Match.  That will only be possible if you’re willing to click on the link here and vote for my entry.

I also want to express my appreciation to Earl of Taint for his generous effort to publicize Cage Match 3 and encourage your vote for my entry.  He was very complimentary of me and our mutual friend Diogenes.

The voting ends tomorrow night, January 2nd at 6:00 PM ET.  Again, you can vote right here.

Happy New Year to everyone and thanks in advance for your vote.

UPDATE 1-3-2014 @ 1:02 AM:  Well, it was like being the only cute, fluffy, adorable puppy in a room full of cat lovers.  The Cage Match results were:  116 votes for B. Keyser’s viral Photoshop and 95 for my entry.

I knew in my heart of hearts that I would lose, but that’s alright.  The entry that won unquestionably deserved it.  I’m just proud to have been considered.

For everyone who cast a vote for my work, you have my heartfelt thanks.  Everyone’s talent has been on display this and there are some really great creations out there.

My friend Diogenes is in the ring against iOwnTheWorld’s own Illustr8r’s “Blinky – The New GOP Mascot”.  As of this hour, Diogenes has a healthy lead 75-43.  I hope that lead holds out through the deadline of 6 PM ET on January 3 for Cage Match 4.

Enjoy your weekend and thanks again for supporting my work.

The 2013 PUK Awards Round Two UPDATE 2X

Round One is in the books and Round Two of the 2013 PUK Awards is now open for your voting pleasure at iOwnTheWorld.

The nominees for Round Two are yours truly (Political Clown Parade), iOwnTheWorld, Maksim, World News Bureau, The Peoples Cube, I’m 41 and Capitalist Preservation (last year’s grand winner).

I could pretend to be humble…I could, but I won’t.  I’d love it if you could hop on over to iOwnTheWorld and vote like crazy for yours truly.  I’m No. 3.  Vote for No.3 on your program; No.1 in your heart.  (If I'm not No.1 in your heart, don't tell me.  It would crush me.)

Voting will last until 6 PM ET Sunday, December 29th.

I want to thank my good friend, Diogenes’ Middle Finger for the blog post informing her readers about this contest for conservative agitprop creators.

Remember, vote for me, No. 3.

UPDATE 12-30-2013 8:34 AM:  The results are in.  Your votes helped catapult my entry into the semi-final round.  The Cage Matches will begin today and the head-to-head final is coming this Friday, January 3, 2014.

These are the Top 8 that will be going head-to-head in the Cage Matches:  B. Keyser, The Looking Spoon (with 2 entries), Diogenes, iOwnTheWorld, Maksim, The Peoples Cube and yours truly, Political Clown Parade.

I hope I can count on you to vote for me because I’m cuter than a fluffy puppy and I don’t sit around in a red plaid onesie sipping hot chocolate spouting socialist horse manure talking points.

As soon as BigFurHat posts the first Cage Match, I’ll put up the link so you can start voting.

UPDATE 12-30-2013 8:31 PM:  It took a while, but BigFurHat finally posted the first Cage Match I mentioned in the previous update.

The Looking Spoon and Peoples Cube are duking it out.  The match is open until 6 PM New Years Eve.  Hop on over here to give your thumbs up for your fave.
