Colin
Kaepernick found himself at the center of a firestorm on Twitter after denouncing
the missile strike that tore Iran’s Quds force
commander into teeny, tiny shreds as “American imperialism.”
He first
tweeted, “There is nothing new about American terrorist attacks
against Black and Brown people for the expansion of American imperialism.” He followed that tweet with this one,
“America has always sanctioned and besieged Black and Brown bodies both at home
and abroad. America (sic) militarism is the weapon wielded by American
imperialism, to enforce its policing and plundering of the nonwhite world.”
The washed-up former
NFL quarterback, who has deservedly been unable to find work as a football
player after kneeling during the national anthem to protest racism
and police brutality, was instrumental in Nike pulling a Betsy Ross shoe over the summer because it marked an
era when slavery existed in the United States. In December, Nike sold
out of a $110 shoe featuring Kaepernick on the heel in one day.
Iowahawk won the
Internet over Nike’s decision with this hilarious tweet:
Attention Assembly Line 1143: cease work on Nike Model 7306-B, they remind American sports person of slavery pic.twitter.com/Z29M6AVD5J— David Burge (@iowahawkblog) July 2, 2019
I suspect Nike will
introduce the Air Soleimani™ model within days.
That’s how they roll.
