Because He Came As A Babe

Hebrews 2:14-18h
14 Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,
15 and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
16 For indeed He does not give aid to angels, but He does give aid to the seed of Abraham.
17 Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.
18 For in that He Himself has suffered, being [d]tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted.

Christ was completely human in every sense of the word for He was born of flesh and blood as we are and shares our same nature. He understands suffering and temptation as we suffer and are tempted.

As the First Adam was created sinless, so Christ, the Second Adam, was also sinless. He was born of the Lineage of Abraham so He too could assume the position of High Priest.

The Old Testament High Priests could only enter the Holy of Holies once a year on the Great Day of Atonement, but they had to first offer a sacrifice for their own sins before they could enter,

As our Heavenly High Priest, Christ needs no additional sacrifice for He was/is sinless. For the past 2000 years He stands before God the Father to offer continuous propitiation for us.

His birth is the greatest event in all history. Everything pales in comparison.

So Merry Christmas! We have already received the greatest gift of all!

NOTE:  Propitiation—the act of atoning for sin or wrongdoing especially appeasing a deity, the act of placating and overcoming distrust and animosity; placation, conciliation.
