By now you’ve heard
about an incident in which presidential hopeful Sen. Amy “Komisar” Klobuchar (D-MN)
reportedly berated a campaign aide who forgot to bring utensils when he
purchased a salad for her in 2008.
The story goes like
this: Klobuchar and her staff were
traveling to South Carolina. One aide
was carrying her bags through the airport and “neglected” to bring a fork to
eat the salad he purchased for the senator.
Klobuchar “proceeded to
pull a comb from her handbag” and began eating the salad. When she finished her hair salad, she handed
the offending aide the comb and “told him to clean it.”
The failing New
York Times reported four people were
familiar with the incident. If she’s
got a hair-trigger temper, I’d be willing to wager everyone within earshot was
familiar with the incident.
Klobuchar campaign
spokeswoman Carlie Waibel pushed back on the Times story in a statement:
“The senator has repeatedly acknowledged that she can be tough and push people hard, but these anonymous stories—some of which are just plain ridiculous—do not overshadow the countless experiences of people on the senator’s team who she has been so proud to work with.”
