Senator Al Franken, leader of Minnesota’s
Lizard People announced his resignation just after 11:45 AM today after 39
of his Democrat Senate colleagues called for him to step down following a
string of sexual misconduct allegations against him.
“I know in my heart that nothing I’ve
done as a senator─nothing─has brought dishonor on this institution,” Franken
said. “Nevertheless, today I am announcing that in the coming weeks, I will be
resigning as a member of the United States Senate.”
Franken to go full Joseph McCarthy: "I have here in my hand a list of 205 members of Congress who have committed acts far worse than I.....and who nevertheless are still working and shaping policy in the Congress."— John Breads (@JohnBreads) December 7, 2017
"I, of all people, am aware that there is some irony in the fact that I am leaving while a man who has bragged on tape about his history of sexual assault sits in the Oval Office," Sen. Franken says. This Franken resignation an amazing lesson in how to take zero responsibility for actions even as those actions cost you your job.— Peter J. Hasson (@peterjhasson) December 7, 2017
