Sen. Jeff Merkley
(D-OR) held the Senate floor for roughly 15 hours in an attempt to
launch an old-school filibuster to block Judge Neil Gorsuch from getting on the
Supreme Court. He ended it around 10:30 AM Wednesday morning. Poor Jeff, bless his heart, blathered and
babbled pointlessly to an empty chamber in an elaborate political stunt meant
to attract attention that cannot and
will not stop Republicans from putting the president’s nominee on the bench
of the country’s highest court.
Before Merkley “held
the floor”, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell filed a motion to vote to
end the debate on his confirmation. That motion paved the way for a vote on
Thursday to confirm Gorsuch to a lifetime
appointment as the next Justice of the United States Supreme Court.
Democrats have Harry
Reid to thank for what the despondent Democrats have called a “stolen seat”.
Karma’s a bitch ain’t
it?
