Carolina Panthers Vs Philadelphia Eagles

Each week the Carolina Panthers have played in the regular season they’ve gotten worse. They’ve suffered losses to the Steelers, Ravens, Packers, Seahawks and Saints.  Tonight they meet the 6-2 Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field in the City of Brotherly Love.  Kickoff time is 8:30 PM ET on ESPN.

I have written in previous posts that I believe QB Cam Newton is gun-shy after his ankle surgery and the rib injury he suffered at the start of the regular season.  I’m just going to say it; he has been pampered throughout his collegiate career and he is finding things are vastly differently in the NFL.  He, I believe, expected to be coddled in the pros.  There is no place for a prima donna on the Panthers’ roster.

It is undeniable that Newton has talent, but if you’re afraid of being hit you’re in the wrong business.  Coach Rivera needs to understand that the Panthers are quickly becoming an embarrassment for the NFC South Division.  Second string QB Derek Anderson deserves a chance to lead the team.  Rivera had the moxie to “send a message” to Kelvin Benjamin.  Why not send one to Newton?

On the bright side, the Panthers will get back Byron Bell, Amini Silatolu and possibly Trai Turner who have been on IR.  Hopefully their return can make a difference in turning around a squad that has struggled on both sides of the ball.

The fans are restless and the Panthers know it.  They need to stop the bone-headed sandlot plays.  The Eagles are hot right now scoring 29.3 points per game while the Panthers are scoring only 19.7 points per game.  It doesn’t appear from their stats or their hearts that they can keep up with Philadelphia.

On a happier note, here are some pom-poms to admire since no football post would be complete without them.
